Autumn starting to sneak its way into my paintings. Charles Lake below Fools Peak, Eagle County, CO, 18”x24”, acrylic on canvas. #art #artist #painting #acrylicpainting #colorado #fall #landscape #landscapepainting #westernartist #westernart
Red and yellow grasses and plants in the foreground; the green, timbered lower slopes of Fools Peak reflected in Charles Lake (Holy Cross Wilderness, Eagle County, CO). The mountain’s gray bulk becomes blue & hazy as it rises against a sky dotted with umbral clouds.

And a rate increase next month. You’re welcome.

Kinda is, tho? They’re just disguised as politicians, mortgage lenders, and scam artists.

First pass/rough-in. I usually do a LOT of under-drawing but this time, for whatever reason, I just started painting. Barely underway; much more to do—I think. No real idea where this one’s going at the moment. Kind of liberating, tho. #art #painting #acrylicpainting #landscapepainting #westernart
A partially-completed acrylic painting with rows of back-lit clouds; the lowest 1/3 of the canvas is still blank.

Can’t think of a better argument for attending college than that lunatic saying we shouldn’t.

Guess who used up the last legal pad (and I use them up completely, front & back) right before a notary-public renewal training?
A sizable pile of Post-It notes with information pertaining to notary-public training.

All the way to 8:03? Overachiever.

Did he even say thank you for my attention to this matter?
kaysercochran.bsky.social
Please don’t. We are brimful of our own idiots at the moment.

Thank you. It was a cold hike, definitely.

Birds planted sunflowers in our back yard a few years ago. Tallest one among this year’s patch toppled in high winds 2 days ago, so, a free, late-summer bouquet. Thank you, birds long gone, for flowers & the message: go make something beautiful that’ll outlive you. #art #artist #summer #colorado

I like all your work, Ben, but this one’s exceptional. Very well done.

Two paintings of the high desert in northern Nevada. Beautiful, lonely country with big weather and profound silence—just the wind and trickling water. Titles in the ALT text. #art #painting #acryliconcanvas #landscapepainting #westernart #nevada
“Snow Squall Over Contact, Northern Nevada,” 11”x15”, acrylic on canvas. Contact is a semi-ghost, copper mining town that boomed around WWI but didn’t last long. Snow on the side of a square-top butte above two derelict buildings surrounded by dry winter grass and sage. “China Mountain & Hanks Peak, Northern Nevada,” 10”x10”, acrylic on canvas. Snow-clad mountains above rolling sage-and-grasslands. Turbulent skies above. Sketch/speed-painting this morning—the snow-patches, alone, took longer than the rest of the piece.

Serious question: Sheriffs have to post a bond to cover any accidents or misconduct on their watch—why isn’t this a requirement for ICE? Seems that would dis-incent all but legitimate enforcement duties. Maybe that’s some legislation we need.

Nighttime lighting in my studio/office is really yellow so the colors are washed out in this photo, but I’m happy with how this one turned out: “Exchequer Consolidated Mine, Winter,” 30”x30”, acrylic on canvas.
Looking up a steep slope to three mine buildings—two red, one green—with a snowy foreground and pine-forested ridge behind. Scaffolded stairs attached to a headframe form the left side of the painting. Sky is a brilliant, cloudless Colorado-winter blue.

Haven’t painted much lately (too much going on at work) so this is my first finished piece in months: “Mine Buildings & Frozen Pond, Gilpin County, CO,” 30”x30”, acrylic on canvas. Who knows when this will be up on my website? Enjoy a tiny version here first… #art #painting #landscapepainting

Granted, she isn’t the worst senator out there, but she seems to only ever take a stand when the conclusion is foregone. No backbone when it could actually make a difference.

Sen. Susan Collins is said to be “concerned” and will announce her opinion in 2032.

“Autumn Basin, Colorado,” 20” x 20” acrylic/canvas. I love intense shadows that take time for your eyes to organize whatever’s inside them, whatever’s concealed—it’s usually a lot.

Most of Colorado dries out so quickly once the snow melts, I can usually only take moss photos in the early spring. Luckily that coincides with mushroom season.

Lovely work. No offense to your friends, but between them and you, you made better use of your time that weekend.
