It is SO noisy, all the time. There are about 2 acres of woods separating me from my "neighbor" and he uses the leafblower IN THE WOODS. Noise can really take a toll on mental health.

I think people have become so inured to noise pollution, they don't give it a second thought. I live with a train running 250' behind my house, 20 r-ts a day. A 4-lane highway sits about 700' the other way. There are airbases and airports dotted all around. A junkyard 1/4 mile away.

You should have seen some of the dwellings (I cannot call them "houses") we passed on the various roads in the area. I think the Trump paraphernalia was the only thing holding them up! The TV line up was something else. 3 RW channels, 4 religious channels and some porn channels.

If it came down to it, I think Marge has bigger aspirations. Massie, OTOH? He narrowly got passed over for Speaker last time. He's definitely got an ax to grind.

I keep wondering if Massie is going to try to grab the Speakership at some point - start an intraparty revolt. I think he's still carrying a grudge.

Ugh. I can't believe she went and decided to run, at 77. She might win, too, as Maine has the highest older population. She'd be inaugurated at 79 and be 85 at the end of her term. Absolutely bonkers.

We'll be down in Cape May next week, M-F. If we get a couple days of NW winds, birding should be very good! It's a great place for the occasional rarity, too.

We have their cousins (swallows) staging in Cape May now. They've probably been forced inland due to our current nor'easter but as soon as it departs, they will be massing in the bayberries on the dunes and resting by the thousands on the beach.

We still have a wall-mount rotary with a coiled stretchy cord, stored in the attic. We went with cell-only in 2016 but kept it as a backup in case cell service went out or the cordless went belly-up. The phone line got pulled down in a storm in '18, so we never had it repaired.
