Exactly@ When my daughter was in Kindergarten/1st grade, we lived in a high-immigrant neighborhood. I never begrudged those kids healthcare, bc if they were healthy, it meant my own daughter would stay healthy, too! Herd immunity works.

We all dressed in chinos and miniskirts back then. We dressed basically the same as our public school neighbors (with the 1 exception of jeans were only allowed once a month on a Friday).

Hell, in 7th or 8th grade, they had us do a musical/dance performance of pop songs, including Foreigner songs, like "Cold as Ice", etc...
Our Senior year in HS, our class did a performance of "Girls just wanna have fun". Even our school dress code was fairly relaxed (No uniforms)

Went in NYC/LA in 1970s and 80s and we literally had a Bible that my parents had to buy for religion class and homework at home. By the time I went, there was NO corporal punishment allowed at all. Post-Vatican II/Pre-conservative backwards tilt was very different. I recall no memorization, either.

Not sure what kind of priest told you that (or where or when). I went to catholic school in the 70s and 80s and we read it in class and at home and were told specifically that we were *supposed to* read & interpret it for ourselves. Sounds like that guy was stuck in the 1600s!

I actually hate blocklists. Yeah sure, make a list of people you think are bad and I will look at them and see if I agree (I sometimes post people I have blocked along with screenshots of WHY). But, blocking dozens of hundreds of people on the word of some1 else seems lacking in critical thinking.

He was the only one of his parents children that was sent away to military boarding school. They KNEW he was a monster. They were the monster's creator, so they were responsible, but, like most rich people, sent their "problem" kid away, for someone else to "fix".

Yup. I never thought MS and arthritis would rob me iof my mobility in my middle age. I'm still years away from SS and Medicare, yet here I am with my walker or cane (depending on how bad the day is), while still raising a teenager. It can happen to ANYBODY.

💔 I'm so sorry for your loss. Time does help, but the sadness never leaves you completely.
We lost our 18 year old Bichon 4 years ago and he is still so missed.

They've illegally fired everyone in the Ed Dept. Without anyone in the Federal government to administer IDEA or to support the states with the $, what can the states do? Many SpEd workers salaries are paid for by the fed $. Good luck getting people to approve higher prop taxes/bonds to pay for this.

The problem is that the school districts have little $ and most of their $ for providing IEP services come from the Feds.
Same goes for Medicaid services.
The states can't print money.
