I woke up to a bunch of new followers. For those who don't me-- I'm a 2nd year Middle School Art Teacher. I teach at a Title 1 school. This was a mid-life career choice after spending my 20s as a barista or working in gallery spaces. I have 3 bachelor's, all related to the visual arts.

There is just something SO SATISFYING about that end of year Art Room Cleaning.

Why, yes, I am indeed celebrating closing my gradebook with sushi and catching up on Abbot Elementary.

I forgot how much truly deep healing comes with deep sleep..... after sleeping solid for nearly 16 hours today.

Let your body rest. It remembers the emotional trauma absorbed even a decade ago but processes them all the same.

My April updates on my #nobuyyear.

I'll admit that with all this talk of tariffs going back and forth, I caved and panic-bought my favorite K-Beauty items. These were all staples in my vanity, though, and I was stocking up for the future. I'm a little scared for that tax bill, though.

It's a good day for a rewatch of The First Wives Club.

Favorite Things, A series.

The other day, I had the joy of witnessing two of my students earnestly high-five each other because it was ART Day for them.

It makes me happy when kids WANT to be in my class.

Favorite Things, a series.

When my little gray cat uses my foot as a pillow for her weary head.

I could lounge with that tiny creature all day with enough herbal tea and nightstand books.

Hayao Miyazaki, Who Said AI Is ‘Insult to Life Itself,” Reduced to AI-Generated Meme by OpenAI
The internet is flooded with AI-generated images in the style of Studio Ghibli, whose founder said “I would never wish to incorporate this technology into my work at all.”

That moment where you recognize you are not healed and that it is very much now time to heal. To deeply heal.

OpenAI is using Studio Ghibli-style memes as an ad hoc promotional campaign for its new image generator—despite Ghibli founder Hayao Miyazaki's famous hatred of AI. Sam Altman made his X avatar a 'Ghiblified' portrait.

Disgracing Miyazaki is part of the point: It's more proof to them tech has won.
OpenAI's Studio Ghibli meme factory is an insult to art itself
Sam Altman is promoting his new image generator by appropriating the work of one of the greatest living animators—who is "disgusted" by AI.

The Supreme Court long ago conferred Constitutional protections to every person present in America

If the US arrests people who have NOT been charged with a crime

Changes their immigration status WITHOUT a court hearing

And refuses to let them speak with a lawyer

Then our democracy is truly lost
The disappearing of Mahmoud Khalil, a person with permanent legal status in the US, should be a red line that everyone should recognize.

They knocked on his door and vanished him into an authoritarian system without a trace.

Your door could be next.

So It Begins: The Disappearing of Mahmoud Khalil and Authoritarian Capture
The Trump Administration kidnapped a legal permanent resident and shuffled him through an authoritarian maze. We're witnessing the beginnings of something terrifying

Today, I finally had that Art Teacher Right-of-Passage of discovering that the reason my sink won't drain properly is because of lost paint brushes, lots and lots of tiny paint brushes (which I thought were just missing).

In lieu of tomorrow's buyout blackout, I thought I'd remember and update on how my #projectpan2025 is going. Though I'm sure that there are or will be a great many of us doing this unintentionally soon.

Follow this thread for my product of empties, mostly bath and skincare....

I didn't sleep well last night.
And, I'm feeling it.
At least I'm done with all the grown up things for the day.

Just introduced my mom to "The Man in the High Castle" just in time for our own creepy history, now jump.

I also forgot how foreboding and disjointed the 1rst Ep. scene with the happy midwest cop was..... helping a guy with his tire, while Thursday's medical waste slowly comes down from the sky.

This Cold and Flu season is one of the worst--and is love to say this household is over it.

Turns out I now have sinusitis---no surprise there, I'm prone to them.

So the NielMed Bottle comes back out, and my ears pop for the first time in nearly 2 weeks. I can hear again! Gross but effective.

So, we are having a dress up Spirit Week where I teach.

Today was "Cliques Day."
Dress up like a high school cafeteria stereotype.

I leaned heavily into my inner Allison Reynolds to represent the goth subculture.

Played the music for my young Gen Z kids. Even made one a Depeche Mode fan. Win.
