Corby reporter, Northampton Crown Court reporter. Proud Prestonian. PNEFC season ticket holder.
This was an absolutely superb episode. There are people trying to destroy the BBC and they’re not doing it because of bias, they’re doing it because it is big enough and strong enough to call out the lunatics who have taken over political and conversational spheres.
"The edit was a mistake, it was clearly misjudged, but the idea it's an example of institutional bias against Trump is absurd."

@maitlis.bsky.social, @jonsopel1.bsky.social and @lewisgoodall.com unpack the seismic reaction to the BBC’s edit error - including Trump putting a target on their backs.

I’ve been following this astonishing £4m burglary case for three years now - it’s finally ended after two trials, with the one man given jail time walking free because he’s already served his sentence www.northantstelegraph.co.uk/news/courts/...

I’ve heard the recordings that this family made of their racist Reform councillor neighbour. I’m rarely shocked these days, but I’ve never heard anything like what this family was subjected to.
This story of a Reform councillor’s racist harrassment of his neighbours is utterly shocking.

Is this what gets though the party’s “common sense” vetting system for candidates?

When I worked at the Croydon Ad we switched off comments under stories in around 2010, largely because of how toxic they were. 15 years later the Facebook pages of local newspaper are rife with racism and toxicity. Well done to @katiecronin.bsky.social for calling it out in Northamptonshire

I’ve spoken to close friends of Abdhi Patel, from Northampton, this evening about the loss they are feeling so deeply after she was killed in the Indian air disaster.

Abdhi sounds like such a wonderful woman. Condolences to all those who loved her www.northantstelegraph.co.uk/news/emergen...

The response to this story tonight has been overwhelming.

While the news is shattering for friends and family of the Modhas, I’m sure it brings them some comfort to see that they were so, so loved in Wellingborough.

I’ve been looking at how the DOGE-style financial shakedown by Reform-led North Northants Council is shaping up - and it’s a different story to the approach taken elsewhere
June 10, 2025 at 9:05 AM
I sat down with Reform UK’s Cllr Martin Griffiths for his first interview after he was officially made leader of the council last night.

He promised no DOGE-style wide-scale redundancies and said he would be running the council, not Reform UK HQ www.northantstelegraph.co.uk/news/politic...

A brief guide to how to spot a wrong ‘un in 2025 for young journalists:

1) they suddenly start to undermine the police repeatedly on social media

2) they call into question the integrity of the court system

3) they start spouting off about ‘the MSM’ being corrupt

Found these stats interesting (via Mail Online).

We have only 240 asylum seekers living in North Northants. 6.5 in every 10,000 people.

Our population is 360,000.

Yet it became an election issue last week & helped Reform to victory here.

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who followed our live election blog on Friday. We smashed all records.

I’m so glad people are still interested in local politics in Northants. There were some really good councillors among those who lost seats and we’ll miss them.
