I really mean it when I say that I hope I can be as good of an advisor and mentor to my future students as my advisors and mentors have been to me throughout the years.
yay field trips! 🧡 loved spending time in @greatsmokynps.bsky.social !
Students and instructors from GEOG 200: Environmental Issues in National Parks and GEOG 345: People and Environment spent the day at Look Rock along the Foothills Parkway in Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
Gave a tour of my exhibit and approved the page proofs of the exhibition album I wrote today!
I trial judged at my first figure skating competition! While it was challenging, I really loved being immersed in skating for a whole weekend ❤️⛸️
As the resident Swiftie and social media girlie of my department, you know I had to ❤️‍🔥
Ready for a new era 🌎🧡 Seriously, a new semester starts next week!

NCPH has issued a joint statement with @aaslh.org, @oah.org, @asalh-bhm.bsky.social, and #AAAM on the erasure of history at National Park Service sites and steps you can take to support NPS sites. Read the full statement here: ncph.org/wp-content/u... #Advocacy #PublicHistory #SupportNPS
And stay tuned for the exhibition album for *this* exhibit, which I am the lead author of! Opening this fall at UTK Libraries, “Beauford Delaney: Light Beyond the Canvas” ✨
I was also able to include things like the exhibit album from Paris Noir at @centrepompidou.bsky.social, which I brought back from my visit in May. By including nods to recent exhibitions that featured Delaney, it emphasizes his continued importance and connections to items in this collection.
I finished my fellowship position for the Beauford Delaney Papers Collection last week. This part of the exhibit is one of my contributions. One case highlights his sketches that precede his Rosa Parks series, while the other than explores his relational geographies in Knoxville, NYC, and Paris.
Today’s baking:
Dubai chocolate brownies
Cheesy garlic focaccia bread
I was accepted to trial judge for a US Figure Skating non-qualifying competition! I’m excited for this new role in the figure skating world ⛸️ 🧡

I probably spent more time on this postdoc app than any other application I’ve submitted and I hope it makes a difference.
Me: I have so much writing to do.

Also me: What are the requirements to be a @usfigureskating.bsky.social judge?
Last week, I took a spontaneous trip back to Paris. I didn't open my laptop the entire time I was there, and I loved every minute. It was the reset I needed.
The highlight of my return to Paris was definitely Paris Noir at @centrepompidou.bsky.social. Studying Beauford Delaney for the last two years and seeing so many of his works in one place was truly special.
I published some stuff this year.
📝 Primary Lead Publication: Kh Shakibul Islam, Changwha Oh, Seth Kannarr, Katrina Stack, Reagan Yessler, Andy Zhang

📖 Publication Honors: Shabiha Hossain, Seth Kannarr, Joshua Pepper, Katrina Stack, Syeda Tasneem
I haven’t opened my laptop the entire time I’ve been in France.
Application is in the mail! 9-11 months to Irish citizenship!
not my best set, but kinda cute for @utkgeography.bsky.social end of the year awards ceremony
how am i supposed to get any work done.
someone in the writing group on zoom: “are you back in france?”
me: “…not yet.”

but this is 10000% my favorite place to get work done on a friday morning.
Returning to Paris since I’m not graduating when I planned to.
