If you are

(1) a graduate of UNL's Earth and Atmospheric Sciences department
(2) a research collaborator
(3) a partner who has worked with meteorologists in NE
(4) a grateful NE citizen who appreciates meteorologists keeping you safe

please write a letter to support UNL EAS before it gets cut<1/2>
UNL is proposing to cut the Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, which would eliminate the undergraduate and graduate meteorology programs. Please consider sharing the importance of our department with UNL through this link: apc.unl.edu/fall-2025-bu...

🧪 A glimmer of hope:

NSF may award more graduate research fellowships in a potential 2nd round as FY25 budgets are finalized.

See below for the note that honorable mentions got.

Call your elected representatives and tell them why funding NSF's STEM education and training initiatives matters!!!
Honorable mention here — they said this in the email:

“Although the agency is unable to offer fellowship support at this time, a subsequent announcement of additional awardees is possible subject to finalization of the agency's fiscal year 2025 spend plan”

NSF GRFP Awards by the Year:
2021 - 2074
2022 - 2193
2023 - 2555
2024 - 2036
2025 - 1000

Again, these funding cuts will have drastic longterm effects on the scientific future of the US.......

An end of this saga for me (for now?), however there are still NOAA employees without their jobs back.

I am extremely grateful to have mine back.
