Hello! I'm an aspiring full-time horror author. I wrote Revelations of the Raven Master and have various short story publications. The novel is coming, I swear. On an alternative note, I'm also a librarian and I love animals.

Tomorrow's movie is Eraserhead
It was fun seeing him be not an asshole. And the ending was pretty cool, even though you could see it coming a mile away. In short: fun times.

Night 15: Drag Me to Hell

"I thought you were lactose intolerant?"
"I am, but I thought, screw it, I'm eating ice cream."

Sometimes, it's fun to enjoy a campy movie. Was it perfect? Nah. Was it fun? Yeah. And I love Justin Long.
Ugh right?? Not that I don't love a good old fashioned bad ass but sometimes I want my protagonist to curtsy at a severed head and be a dainty lil weirdo
Damn, Doug, you should just start throwing your books at me and go, "Read it, you'll like it"
Finally all caught up!!

Tomorrow's movie is Drag Me to Hell
The puppet for the vampire was super cool and an eerie touch. Also gay...subtext is too subtle. Overtones? Slay.

Fuck them for killing the dog, though. He was a good boy till the end.

Night 14: The Vourdalak

(No quotes for international films)

That was a very fun movie. There was lots of dark humor in it and the Marquis was delightfully absurd in a (I hesitate to say normal) setting so far removed from French court life.
Catch my dumbass learning that 1700s people didn't have crazy intricate hair, just wigs
What if my reaction is "this book made me uncomfortable and I love this author"
EDIT: I looked up what happens in the American one and, while legally a happier ending, it was stupid. This is the better film.

Night 13: Speak No Evil

"Why are you doing this?"
"Because you let me."

(There were no good funny quotes, so. Take a fucked up one.)

Okay so my first reaction is that was so fucked up?? This is just coming off of finishing it, mind you.
I wonder if the US version of this is any...happier?

I have tears in my eyes, although I'm not crying. That movie was really good at making you feel uncomfortable, enough so that you know that something is going on (and maybe to be able to explain it away) but when the reveal comes? Jesus Christ.

I'll be all caught up tomorrow (thank God) with The Vourdalak and Speak No Evil
I'm a sucker for a good detective story and I love it even more when you are drawn into weird psychoanalytics and character studies. And the ending?? Wonderful commentary on the pervasion of evil.

I think this movie did it how it was supposed to be done. Don't ask how they differ, I can't remember the book very well, but this movie is something I'll never forget.

Night 12: Cure

God, that was good. There was a book with a similar premise, called Trance by Adam Southward. I did not like that book, but I thought the concept was fascinating.
It has come to my attention that Let Me In is just Let the Right One In but in English.

Therefore, I'm replacing it with the original Speak No Evil.
I really enjoyed this movie. The concept is fascinating, the mask is eerie, and who doesn't love a good doggie revenge arc??

Night 11: Eyes Without a Face

Damn, that must have freaked people out in the 60s. I mean, I can tell it's just paint and a rubber mask, but that must have looked crazy realistic back then.
Y'all ever think about the good ol days where you could keep alcohol in your desk at work
I think what was really, really, really cool about this movie was the special effects and atmosphere. That body horror?? Really cool. So was the whole aesthetic. So if you are like, "KC, you're rating this a little high?" That final boss fight is why.

Night 10: Ash

"How about: Let's not fuck it up this time?"

So, like, as a movie itself, it was fine. Y'know, it's not a space story I haven't heard before.
