However, the discussions on the floor about the memorandum of understanding pipeline signing in Alberta last week did not going over well.

Before breaking for lunch, the emcees said they've been approached by a number of Chiefs wanting to discuss protocols around PM Carney's appearance. They were advised to caucus-- and told protocols would be adjusted as they wished. I have no idea what is going on. #cndpoli #indigenoous #AFN Assembly

At the AFN assembly. Right now they are working through resolutions. The National Chief's speech laid into the gov't on: underfunding education, failing to re-introduce water legislation, S-2 (on "Indian status" and C-5. Carney and a number of ministers will be appearing. #cdnpoli #indigenous

The debate is continuing and it is going long - I am told by 3 sources that for that reason the vote on S-2 may not happen today...I am keeping an eye on it just in case. Even if the Senate votes yes- it is not a law- we talk about what happens next on Nation to Nation 2nite #indigenous #cdnpoli

S-2 is up now. Sen. Paul Prosper & 10 other Senators on the #Indigenous committee amended the bill to end the second gen cutoff so that people with status born after 1985 can pass rights to their children regardless who they marry. Will it end with a point of order? #cdnpoli @aptnnews.bsky.social
