READ MORE: It can get pretty upsetting when you turn on the TV and see politicians and pundits telling blatant lies about you, and what you stand for. They want to say we hate America, but loving the United States of America and refusing to just take it when an anti-freedom president and his factions try to rule over the people, like we are supposed to be his loyal subjects, is something that at least half of the USA is unwilling to submit to. We are not to be ruled by the government. The government is supposed to be working for us, all of us, not just those who voted in favor of the current administration, and we are unwilling to see the constitution forfeited for selfish power. They want to lie and say that protesters are being paid to be there. They must think that democratic pockets are as deep as the multiple billionaires they gave tax breaks to instead of caring for the poor and the children of the poor. I can tell you that no one paid me or even offered to pay me to be at the first No Kings protest or this one, but I did donate a small amount to buy pizza for college students who may choose to be bussed to the protest. Protesters are not being paid. (Like they paid 15 million of us at the first No Kings protest—yeah, right.) We are doing it because we are beyond fed up with this administration and their systematic destruction of democracy and the constitution. We are in a situation similar to what happened in the 1960s except, this time, I think, and others think, it is a lot more dangerous. We have accumulated so much in the way of rightful freedom since the Civil Rights Movement. We must not turn back now and allow our freedoms to be stripped by those who are more interested in ruling than in serving. We will make our voices heard again and again.
