President-Elect Trump has refused to confirm he will NOT use military force to take over #Greenland. Bluster, or the imminent end of the rules-based approach to international co-operation and mutual respect?
I call it, the USA will invade Greenland and tell Denmark if they resist they will blow them to pieces.

So they won't, and no one else will do anything except say angry words either.

Then the rise of fascism and WW3 truly begins.

When I was growing up we had no money to buy books. All I had was my local library. I spent hundreds of hours in it. But for that library I might never have become a lawyer. A thousand of them were closed under successive Conservative Governments
Libraries matter now more than ever. They stand for the powerful idea that knowledge is free and belongs to everyone. In a time when books and free thought are under threat, we must defend and support our libraries and librarians—they are guardians of access, learning, and freedom.

Eh, the barriers are necessary, Ms Reeves, because your country lowers standards, refuses legal oversight, refuses to contribute to the community, and refuses the conditions that are attached to the genuine free trade found within the European four freedoms.

Also yes they are perfectly entitled to be asked for ID at your polling place so bring some ID with you. Your polling card is not ID so even if you have it bring some ID too #ge24

Just in advance of voting tomorrow, your reminder not to take photos of your ballot paper and post it on social media.
You can tell people who you voted for if you want but if you snap it you give away security features like the official seal.

Musk has now threatened the leaders of Canada,Brazil, Germany. X helped create a riot in the UK. Now it seems he doesn't want the UK to make its own legal decisions. Time to act?
"He asked why British far-right figurehead Tommy Robinson had been imprisoned at all. Musk also approvingly shared Robinson’s documentary to his more than 200 million followers"

Musk's interventions should be taken seriously. The ideological leanings of oligarchical media barons can affect us all.
Elon Musk brands UK a ‘tyrannical police state’
X owner shares a petition demanding a UK general election and boosts a far-right activist.

It's never too soon to revisit this gem of a Christmas story, from @richycraven.bsky.social.
The most stressed out I've ever been about Christmas was when I was 16 and I got my first ever job, working at M&S in Dundrum. As soon as I started I kept hearing these myths about the Christmas Eve Waste Sale, where all the food that wasn't sold on the 24th was marked down 90%.

Country before ego. I find this leadership deeply moving; LBJ was to become a fine President, steadying the ship after the tragedy of the Kennedy assassination, and ultimately passing the Civil Rights Act.

I hope federally funded scientists are preparing for large scale, bad faith attacks by Musk and his troll army.

It’s pretty clear the DOGE operation is going to take snippets of grant proposals and papers, present them out of context, and direct weaponized harassment of individual people.
