Let’s be clear. The government is shutting down because republicans want to DOUBLE healthcare premiums for millions of Americans in 2026 while giving massive tax breaks to the wealthiest. Democrats don’t want that to happen. Republicans refused to negotiate. The shutdown is the right answer.

Have @schumer.senate.gov and @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social polled democrats on the shutdown? This plan of getting healthcare cuts reinstated so long as there is a “commitment not to roll them back” seems a fools errand. Why not shut the govt down, blame the R’s and get real concessions to reopen?
