I agree with the overall sentiment of the piece but there are some not very representative assumptions in there.
In this post for @kentik.bsky.social, @jobsnijders.bsky.social and I dig into the problem of excessively large AS-SETs — out of control route objects which can render IRR-based route filtering useless.

I wonder how many 6500s/7600s are still out there, which have a theoretical limit of 1024k prefixes in TCAM, and are about to explode? :D
I see 998964 IPv4 prefixes. This is 132 more prefixes than 6 hours ago and 860 more than a week ago. 61.76% of prefixes are /24.
