He was wrongly convicted and sentenced to death. The prison system then failed to diagnose and treat his MS while the courts ignored his claims.
And today’s SCOTUS would likely have denied him the 16 years of freedom he finally enjoyed.

Paul House has died -- a wrongly convicted man whom John Roberts gave the okay to execute
House was finally freed in 2008. But under today's court, he'd likely still be on death row -- or worse.

Next week I begin my 35th year teaching law school. I look forward to welcoming my 1Ls to the wonderful world of law in my Criminal Law class and continuing the legal education of my 2Ls and 3Ls in my Criminal Procedure and Wrongful Convictions classes. Here we go!
