🧒🧒 Just Fair welcomes the end of the cruel two-child limit - a crucial step toward fairness we have long called for.

No child’s rights to food, housing or a decent life should ever be capped by policy. Now the UK must protect these rights in law.
Statement on the lifting of the two-child limit | Just Fair
Just Fair welcomes the UK Government’s decision to lift the two-child limit. This long-overdue step could make a real difference in tackling child poverty and restoring fairness to the social security system. 🍽️ This lays bare a reality no one should face: in the UK, people are going hungry. Poverty isn’t inevitable, it’s a failure to uphold rights.

With the new UK Right to Food Commission now launched, we have a chance to push for lasting change.

It is great to hear @sianberry.bsky.social MP calling for the enactment of the socioeconomic duty. The UK Government have said they will, but they are now dragging their feet.

It's time to unlock this vital tool for tackling inequality at a local level.

🥘 The Right to Food Commission launched recently putting the human right to food back on the agenda. Hunger in the UK isn’t inevitable.

The Commission’s work offers a real chance to push for a future where everyone can afford nutritious, adequate food as a right.
Putting human rights on the table: launch of the Right to Food Commission | Just Fair
Today, the UK Right to Food Commission launches in Parliament- a landmark step to put the human right to food back on the national agenda. 🦠 The Covid-19 Inquiry’s call to commence the socio-economic duty is a vital step toward protecting those most at risk and progressing health equity.

We have long championed this, co-leading the 1ForEquality campaign. It’s time decision-making in the UK finally reflects the dignity we all deserve.

This long-overdue step will make a real difference in tackling poverty and restoring fairness to the social security system.

The UK must now go further and protect economic, social and cultural rights in law, so that no government can ever again introduce policies that push people into hardship.
Good riddance to rubbish policy.

The end to the UK's "two child limit" social security policy has been announced, and it will soon be gone.

We @hrw.org welcome the news, as one of many, many, many voices calling for an end to this arbitrary, cruel social security policy.

The two-child limit breachs the UK’s obligations under international law, including every child’s right to social security, to food, and to an adequate standard of living.

It needs to be scrapped now.
A child poverty strategy with the 2-child limit in place would *not* be a credible child poverty strategy. *All* of the growth in child poverty since the 2011/12 low point is for children in scope of this policy.
