Objects, like people, have a whole history and story. And the metaphor goes both ways. The way you repair and let an object grow with you applies to human relationships too. I've learned a lot from mistakes. I leave the repair visible on purpose.

I'm repairing an old dress that was my friends Nan's n gifted to me n I had to frustratingly start over a couple times bc I want it to look good but also last. And it struck me how much being around Māori and tikanga has changed the way I relate to objects. It's a relationship and deserves care.

It's wild how deeply a dominant national religion penetrates culture. I was not raised Christian or even religious but I still have some puritanical brain worms (like fundamental guilt/shame). When I lived in Turkey I had these queer friends w all the same stuff but re Islam.

Funny how "alpha male" ideology is formed from a study of disconnected wolves thrown together who ofc scrambled for hierarchy. But actual wolf pack dynamics are mostly about stuff like care, play, parenting and grief. Things most """alphas""" are way too cowardly to face irl.
