Donations will support the Aquarium’s Sea Otter Program as well as the Aquarium's other important ocean conservation work, protecting the very creatures who inspired the tee. 🦦💙

We’re excited to be re-collaborating with the original artwork owners Liberty Graphics for a special, limited-time fundraiser! We’ll be thanking donors who support our mission with a re-issue of the sea otter shirt originally printed in the 1990s.

🧡You deserve what you want,
Hope you get what you want….
Don’t worry—we got our paws on the original artwork. 🐾

🎤We heard you calling on the megaphone,
The otter tee returns to stand on its own.
The legend wore it—Swifties found it
You all are quite the pros 🦦✨

Most importantly, she recognized that – together – we can make a real difference through our actions, large and small.

I mourn her passing and celebrate her life. It was an honor to know and work with Dr. Goodall. Her legacy will live on, in the lives of the millions of people she inspired.

Dr. Jane Goodall was a remarkable individual – as a scientist, as an advocate for wildlife and wild places, and as a source of profound hope for the future of our planet. She brought such a joyful spirit and unfailing optimism to her work. #inspiration #hope #wildlife #conservation

We have clear data pointing to the sources of the problem, and clear evidence of the disproportionate impact on the Global South. We must shift to a clean-energy economy. #EnvironmentalJustice #CleanEnergy #GreenhouseGasEmissions #OceanClimateActions #ClimateDisparities
juliepackard.montereybayaquarium.org
A few years ago, @montereybayaquarium.org researchers documented clear disparities in the places where the greenhouse gas emissions that drive climate change are being produced and the places that will disproportionately feel the impacts. www.montereybayaquarium.org/stories/clim...
A map of Earth colored red and blue. Large red areas contribute comparatively few greenhouse emissions yet experience more severe warming. Smaller blue areas emit far more emissions yet experience relatively less warming.

We've lost a great environmental champion with Robert Redford's passing. He used his voice to support climate action, to protect our public lands, and to help people understand the importance of safeguarding the natural systems on which our lives depend.

We are better for his time on Earth.

@governor.ca.gov must now support strong implementing regulations by CalRecycle so #SB54 can take effect as it was intended. #PlasticPollution #ActOnPlastic #SourceReduction #CircularEconomy #ProducerResponsiblity
juliepackard.montereybayaquarium.org
There's one step left to fulfill the promise of #SB54, which “goes further than any other state on cutting plastics production at the source and continues to build a circular economy that is necessary to combat climate change.” And it's in the hands of @governor.ca.gov. #ActOnPlastic
juliepackard.montereybayaquarium.org
"Single-use plastic was never inevitable," Chaudhuri writes. "It was a business decision. And we can choose differently if we confront how we’ve essentially been manipulated into arriving here, and muster the willpower to push for something better." In California, we are poised to do just that.
juliepackard.montereybayaquarium.org
"We are saddled with an addiction to disposability so deep that tackling it will require a wholesale rewriting of the rules that have governed business and consumption for the past 70 years." -- Saabira Chaudhuri, journalist and author of “Consumed: How Big Brands Got Us Hooked on Plastic.”

"Plastic has unleashed a tidal wave of waste, most of which flows to landfills and incinerators or ends up as litter harming biodiversity, the climate, and human health." #PlasticPollution #BiodiversityLoss #PublicHealth

California can lead the way & help #EndPlasticPollution. @governor.ca.gov: It's time to uphold the promise you made when you signed #SB54 -- the most ambitious and comprehensive plastics law in the world: "Our kids deserve a future free of plastic waste and all its dangerous impacts." #leadership

The Monterey Bay Aquarium is calling on Governor Gavin Newsom to uphold Senate Bill 54, or the Plastic Pollution Prevention and Packaging Producer Responsibility Act. SB 54 shifts the burden of plastic waste from everyday people to the companies that produce it. Read more: mbayaq.co/4oIVQw0

Solving the challenge of #PlasticPollution is an urgent matter and we know what it takes to solve it. We will continue to press for strong and ambitious global action to address the harmful impacts of unnecessary plastic. #GlobalPlasticsTreaty
montereybayaquarium.org
We’re deeply disappointed negotiations for a global plastics treaty have ended without a final agreement.
Over the past 3 years, the momentum has been undeniable. The world now understands, plastic is a full lifecycle problem that demands systemic solutions, & that its health impacts are profound.
