Hello everybody!

As some of you may know, my partner and I are planning a pretty big move. Without going into too much detail, this move will be the beginning of a much needed healing journey for both of us.

i think it’s important for everyone to have a few historical figures they’re irredeemably weird about

i’ll probably always be more of a scholar than a fiction writer but i can’t ever abandon my shakespeare retellings because there are some ideas you just can’t explore in an academic paper, like “what if richard ii liked ‘claims to be pro-life / dies anyway’ memes about john of gaunt”

would be so cool and awesome if the school system weren't set up so that teachers have to choose between fucking up the trajectory of students' lives by failing them and passing them when they fully don't know the material

begging people to realize that where they put their time and energy reveals their priorities. if you claim to oppose something but spend more time critiquing critiques of said thing than critiquing the thing itself i simply don’t believe you.

1. On Tuesday, voters rejected anti-trans ads, Elon Musk by electing Susan Crawford to the Wisconsin Supreme Court.

It was supposed to be close. She won by 10 points.

Dems do NOT need to throw trans people under the bus to win.

Later. Later when we can breathe again, I will ask quietly why my colleagues in STEM never marched for devastating cuts to arts and humanities, disciplines that did not need the same recruitment of diverse populations already here.

Now, I will march. Later, I will ask.

ALERT! It just broke that tomorrow, the Senate will attempt a procedural vote on a transgender sports ban.

It will take 7 Democrats breaking rank in order to have enough votes to pass cloture.

Democrats held very strong in the House and only lost two votes.

i think critically examining your biases and privileges is incredibly important on a personal level but any political movement that puts that front and center is likely to produce activists who spend a lot more time thinking about themselves than the people they could be helping

i love dissecting societal values and systems of oppression i really do but there’s a certain brand of leftist discourse i simply cannot engage in for extended periods because it inevitably approaches the conclusion that it’s problematic to think being good at things is good
