@SpeakerMikeJohnson, you don’t want to be “Mad Mike”?!

Try being one of the 24 million Americans losing their health care or one of the hundreds of thousands of federal employees working without pay because of your Republican shutdown. That’s real cause for being hopping mad.
Donald Trump said it himself: when the government shuts down, the president is responsible for fixing it. This president should take responsibility and start negotiating to reopen the government.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump is hiding behind the chaos, wining and dining his billionaire donors while families across the country are opening letters about skyrocketing costs and losing their coverage.
They ripped away health care from millions of Americans, are allowing the biggest premium hike in 15 years, and shut down the government to avoid taking responsibility.
It’s Day 16 of the Republican shutdown – and Republicans are failing to address the full-blown health care crisis they created.
Now more than ever, Congress must not turn its back on America’s seniors. That’s why I’ll keep fighting to protect the investments that make the work of organizations like Senior Concerns possible – because our seniors and caregivers deserve nothing less.
The Trump administration’s reckless cuts to federal funding are making things worse – stripping health care, dismantling senior social services programs, and gutting the food assistance they rely on.
But as the cost of living climbs and our senior population grows, it’s becoming harder for older adults to find affordable housing and access basic care.
From connecting families with vital resources to coordinating meal deliveries to providing high-quality adult day care, Senior Concerns is meeting the needs of our aging community and rising to the challenges of the “silver tsunami.”
Senior Concerns is the heart of senior care in #VenturaCounty and the Conejo Valley. I recently met with their remarkable team to learn more about their work helping every senior who walks through their doors get the care and support they need.

Republicans cut $137 billion from rural health care. Now, they want credit for “fixing” the problem they created because they put a $50 billion Band-Aid on it.

They’re the arsonist and the firefighter.
Denying Arizona’s 7th District a voice in Congress violates their constitutional right to representation. It’s time to stop the political games and let Rep.-elect Adelita Grijalva serve her constituents.

Speaker Johnson, do your job. Swear her in!
@housedemocrats.bsky.social are fighting to stop 15 million Americans from losing their health care, to lower premiums and costs, and to get the government back open.

The American people deserve leaders who show up — not ones who take vacations while working families suffer.
It’s Day 15 of the Republican government shutdown – and House Republicans have done nothing to reopen the government.

Republicans have delivered:
No paychecks.
No health care.
No leadership.

Donald Trump and Speaker Johnson would rather play politics than protect the American people.

The Affordable Care Act tax credits help keep health care affordable, saving lives.

Democrats are fighting to permanently extend them, because you shouldn’t have to dread opening the mail knowing your premiums will go up.
Democrats are in Washington – ready to negotiate, ready to govern, and ready to deliver a fair, bipartisan deal for the American people. It’s time for Speaker Johnson to get serious about the real harm this shutdown is causing and call the House back into session now.
Now, their strategy is simple: keep the government closed and keep House Republicans on paid vacation for another week instead of taking responsibility for this chaos.
They had a strategy when they left town without taking action to prevent health care premiums for millions of Americans from rising exponentially.
Let’s be clear: Speaker Johnson and Congressional Republicans did have a strategy when they cut Medicaid for 15 million Americans to fund tax breaks for billionaires.
It’s Day 14 of the Republican government shutdown – and Speaker Mike Johnson admitted he has "no strategy" to reopen the government.
I will always fight for stronger federal investments in our food assistance networks, and I remain committed to ensuring #VenturaCounty families have access to the healthcare, nutrition, and resources they need and can count on.
That partnership between local organizations and federal resources is exactly what keeps communities like ours strong – and why protecting and expanding these investments is so critical.
I recently joined the incredible volunteers and staff at Meals on Wheels in the Simi Valley Senior Center to help prepare and deliver meals to seniors in our community. Programs like Meals on Wheels rely on federal funding to keep their doors open and their delivery routes running.
Republicans’ One Big Ugly Bill already gutted critical food assistance programs that help keep our communities fed. Now, their refusal to end this shutdown is inflicting even more harm on children, seniors, and families across the nation.
Regional food banks like Food Share Ventura County are stepping up to help, but even federal food assistance programs are beginning to run out of funds, putting more pressure on states and local communities.
