I’m going to go with… recently.
Me too. I’m also angry that a million people aren’t in the streets over this.

Arlington. Not a fucking chance. They can give him the same burial as Bin Laden. At sea. No grave. Global cheering.

Guess they forgot there are buildings next door. Morons.
It might also include Americans getting off their ass more than once a quarter. The problem is US. No other democracy would tolerate any of this. Not one!
In Europe, there would be hundreds of thousands in the street. Americans are too busy watching sports and posting on social media cuz that always stops bulldozers and dictators.
I am going to point out an unpopular reality here. If some politician in Europe bulldozed a building akin to the White House, Europeans would be in the streets en mass. Anyone see that today? Ya, I haven’t even seen an elected Dem holding a press conference. Once a quarter big protests won’t cut it
Americans just let a man rip down our White House. I see nobody in the streets over that today. Just a lot of social media posts that don’t stop bulldozers. You better believe the Europeans would be in the street. Like I said, Americans are soft and I fear too lazy for this fight.
What people need to understand is that if fascists are not stopped at the outset, their armies are difficult and bloody to dislodge later. Americans don’t understand this. And they don’t seem to realize we are almost past the point where we prevent a civil war.
I am not attacking other people. I am attacking the idea that satire is going to bring down a dictatorship. It’s part of it but what there is not is mass mobilization in the streets every day. I did not say you personally. I am saying (like many others) on this app that there will not be elections.
Finally, just for you Linda, I have spent too much time in the Middle East and SW Asia, along with decades of work as a democratic activist on the ground to be lectured and told to list my resources by someone whose lived experience is most likely none of that. Food for thought.
Russia did satire and look where Russians are. You can’t defeat fascism with a few frogs. You only succeed when fascists fear the people more than an individual. That only happens with sustained commitment not a Saturday here and there. This is what bugs me. Americans are soft.
Serbia is an example but a more on target example is Ukraine where people refused to leave the streets and brought commerce to a halt. On the opposite side is Navalny’s movement which utterly failed
