The Taft Hotel - 70 units of housing for elders who would otherwise be homeless - was left vacant by REACH Development in 2021.

After filling the rooms, they were emptied — even with a $2.7M lease extension.

Of 5,000 Seattle shelter beds an average 3% were free each night in 2024.

Thanks John. Jim and I were big fans of yours in the day. The case above is a direct result of Jim's killing. Weird we've been in legal opposition to the PPB for 10+ years on behalf of Jim and others, but these letters have us united with the city, its attorneys, and even the cops.
