Old pocket Venus, married almost 50 years. Democrat, chocolate freak, British tv and writers, gardening, secret optimist, champion complainer. Leaving the bird. A dear friend’s profile, now passed, was one word. Bitter. Adding that in her honor.
Friend/neighbor wanted so badly for me to meet her son who’s visiting. Really not well, staying in bed, on sofa but put on pants, walked over, pretended normal. It was worth it. He’s lovely, basically her clone, her dog wouldn’t let me pet his dog…she looked so happy it made me happy. Little things.

If I’m going to watch a film about a sex worker it’s going to be Jane Fonda in Klute, not Melanie in whatever the hell that is.

Men who think indicating they don’t find a woman attractive hurts or subdues us are pathetic. We’re supposed to base our self worth on whether they consider us doable? And the opposite is true as well. I’ve laughed in many a face.

Never ever let a man have that power over you. Ever.

Friend brought me an advent calendar, all excited, have never had one, asked if it was chocolate. No. Dried fish treats. For Ellie. Like she’ll care. 😂

And if Liz Cheney and her late father Dick could put aside a lifetime of strong ideological differences in order to endorse the only candidate who could have stopped the dictator, I don’t want to hear a word from “conservatives” who knew Trump was a danger but were too pure to vote for one Dem once.

Hilary was fully prepared, more than any candidate ever. My gods we blew it.

Here’s hoping, praying if you pray, that whatever democrat we install in the White House 2028, and we will, has a complete staffing overhaul in place day one, including secret service. No leaving people in place for a smoother transition. Or to demonstrate inclusion. They all go.

This one not fuzzy. Note to old self, don’t lean over into camera. Also don’t bend knees and sit on floor without a plan for getting up.😂

Recommend rolling onto your side, pushing up with your arms, grabbing whatever is closest. Pull. Good luck.

Asked husband if he’d noticed how many women we know have nice homes, nice cars, security, seem so down. Posited it was their husbands sucking the life out of them. He looked at me and said “we try”.

This is what keeps me laughing.

My T bills suck the life out of him. Currently under discussion.

New Karen Pirie out Dec 2, re-reading her last. Set during beginning of COVID. Seems like Scotland was even more strict than we were. Impressive. I get people wanting to relax, I do as well, but seems like we completely ignore it now even with more evidence of lasting effects.

Not sure invading a country because his polling sucks is going to win him a Nobel peace prize.

I see so many women my age out there shopping with heads down, wearing black and dun, seeming lifeless. I have every reason to hide in the back of my closet crying but instead wear brights, boots, ridiculous sweaters, hold my head up as best I can. It’s all fake but it helps. Don’t waste a day.

Filled a one pound box for delivery. Not ordering it but enjoyed pretending very much.

This whole heat pump thing with gentle, slow warmth instead of immediate burning blowing heat from a furnace is unsatisfying bullshit. I even loved the sound of the furnace kicking on. Morning comfort. This is stupid.

Can’t say this to environmental freak husband but christ on a cracker. 😡

I cannot even begin to express my rage at this lie

reading this through me back into my pandemic EMT life, attempting to resuscitate a child experiencing a cardiac arrest secondary to COVID while a father says “we heard that the vaccine was riskier than COVID for kids” and a mother wails in agony
NEW: The F.D.A. announced in an internal memo that 10 children died "because of" the Covid shot. Other experts want to see proof.

“This is a profound revelation,” Dr. Prasad's memo said. “For the first time, the U.S. F.D.A. will acknowledge that Covid-19 vaccines have killed American children.”

“Crack of sparrowfart” is new to me. Scottish. 😂

I’m almost always up at the crack of sparrowfart. Must remember.

First thing every morning while I make breakfast, Jingle Bell Rock. Bobby Helms. Try it, it’ll make you feel better. 😊

Took a slow, wobbly walk in the dark last evening. Warm, high yesterday was 80 degrees. Met a woman whose English was lacking and I’m a monoglot but we had a nice time looking at light displays. She had the teeniest papillon, gave thought to grabbing and running but I can’t run. Dammit. 😂

Wanted a pic with husband for first Thanksgiving ant this house, our 51st together. Nope. Tried to take a selfie with Ellie, she was kind of a jerk but played along.

Figured out what happened to my always perfect pie. Had to cut and eat a piece to find out. It’s been a few years since we’ve done thanksgiving, I’m a lot weaker and less coordinated so employing workarounds one being transferring filling to 8 cup Pyrex. Poured in too fast. Created a big air bubble.

Noticed yet another weird new anomaly in fat distribution this morning. Moved from one spot to another.
November 27, 2025 at 4:53 PM
Neighbor I’d never met stopped me out front yesterday, complimented on the house, asked if we had family coming for Thanksgiving. I said no, they were all dead and we were finally free.

I need to stop saying things like that, especially to strangers.

I’m sorry though, in our case it’s true.

While I made breakfast Ellie found a new obsession, the foil the poinsettia pot sits in. No worries, she couldn’t care less about the plant. Had to fight her to release it, she then happily ate breakfast, sadly barfed it all up, needed to be hand fed broths to settle…I had cold coffee and toast.
