In short, can we not try something else? Heavy policing has *never* had a lasting impact on this type of crime. What about more investment for community larders, community garden projects, food banks and assessing the root cause of shoplifting?
Even the SPA note that the rising cost of living is a contributing factor, as the article notes, in their report you can read here

His point of “the police are always in court but never get called to give evidence” also not reconciled against the fact his plans would presumably have more in police in courts as they convicted the shoplifters.
Anas Sarwar here pushing for further criminalisation on shoplifting instead of pushing for any investigation into the crippling cost of living crisis that pushes people into theft. No plan to counter rising food prices or increases in poverty; just a crackdown on the shoplifters.
Guys I'm reading Moby Dick for the first time and I have a question; Is Ishmael... you know?

We're going to need a bigger building.
Just posting art while I figure out how to use this I suppose.

Who’s good to follow around here?

Anyway this is a piece called thpinning wheel thpindle and it’s based on how my family used to take the piss out of me when I was a toddler for having a speech impediment.
Opening up my bluesky with a quick one page zine I made about the reporting on Charles and William making more millions off the back of the public.

Just so there’s no confusion as to where I stand
