We are just one day out from the Seattle local elections! Only 17.6% of King County voters and just under 20% of Seattle voters have returned their ballots. So far, only 1 in 17 young gen Z voters have voted, compared to more than 1 in 3 boomers. Don't forget to vote if you are eligible and want to.

Seattle University's annual survey on public safety, initiated in 2015, shows how local perceptions of crime, safety and policing have shifted.

Tried Tacos Cometa tonight: incredible food, affordable prices, and proof that street-level entrepreneurship brings real flavor to the city. 🌮

Our streets should make it easier for people with vision (and a grill) to thrive.
Kicking off my November street eats research. Great cities have great street food — Seattle still has room to grow if we want our streets to stay lively, especially at night.

Big City, Big Street Food
Seattle is growing. We are becoming big. And with a big city, comes big, delicious food tents.

Oof. Big miss from KUOW. The story reads like half gotcha and half fan club, with none of the objectivity or rigor you’d expect from public radio.
Bruce Harrell’s campaign is using a KUOW story to paint Katie Wilson as secretly rich. The problem? It isn’t true. Her parents only started helping with childcare this year, not her bills, and KUOW has since added context after refusing to correct the piece.
How a KUOW Story Became a Weapon in the Mayoral Race
On October 21, KUOW published a story with the headline: “Katie Wilson can barely afford to live in Seattle. That's why she wants to be mayor.” The story then goes on to reveal that while she “speaks ...

So maybe Seattle’s economy isn’t quite as hot as it used to be…

Reports say Amazon could cut up to 30K corporate jobs this week — another big hit for the region’s tech scene.

Dark clouds over the Emerald City right now. 🌧️

The additional time to think and vote at home helps. No pressure.
Power is out again… this weekend has been a rough one when it comes to power. Ugh.
Voted! 🗳️📫

Whether you’re mailing your ballot or using a dropbox — make sure to get those ballots in, Washingtonians.

Big leadership decisions on the ballot this year for Seattle.

Thirty Great. ✨
Kicked off 38 surrounded by friends at my neighborhood spot.

37 was hard — full of lessons in life, love, and laughter. Took the advice of other Black men: cultivate joy in the face of adversity.

Still learning, still growing, still choosing me. ❤️
Took my new Brooks gear for a spin this week — first time wearing it since visiting their company store.

Love that this Seattle brand keeps showing up for the local running community and continues to support Seattle Frontrunners as a sponsor.

Feels good to rep local. 🏃‍♂️💙

Rode the new E Marginal Way S bike lane today. Smooth, protected, and part of the growing dream of riding all the way around Elliott Bay on safe bike infrastructure from Alki to Magnolia.

Thx @bestsidecycling.com,
@qagggy.bsky.social, @gordonofseattle.bsky.social & Don for a fun afternoon ride.

It has been 12 years since Lance David died biking to work here. I'll be thinking about him when I ride this safer route later today.

His tragic death spurred local West Seattle advocates to demand change, and to his credit Mayor Mike McGinn started this project — 3 mayors later it's finally done.

It’s open and it’s awesome! 🍾

Got to check it out on opening day with Don from West Seattle Bike Connections who is one of the original advocates for this project, @bestsidecycling.com, @qagggy.bsky.social , and @joshholland.bsky.social . Go see for yourself!

A lawsuit was always the plan for the anti-LGBTQ+ protesters at Cal Anderson. 😮‍💨

We need to make smarter moves against actions like this in the city. More likely coming in the near future.

Here's hoping Seattle wins the lawsuit.

Signed out of September in the Olympic National Forest.

Hello October, the best month of the year. 🍁
Struggling with the idea that “protecting your peace” means shrinking your circle and shutting out new connections. Peace shouldn’t come at the cost of growth.
One of the best lessons I’ve learned: you can’t make everyone happy.

Gather input, make a decision, and move on.

Don’t spin your wheels endlessly and go nowhere.

If the R Line opens in 2032, it will have taken Seattle 17 years and two entire transportation levies to convert its second busiest bus line into a bus rapid transit corridor.
Something I missed in the county budget book at first glance: the timeline for opening the RapidRide R line (current Route 7) is now being stated as 2032.
