Lots of good reviews, but this headline wins. Now on Netflix!
'Death by Lightning' is the historical TV drama you simply cannot miss
With a stellar cast and even better beards, "Death by Lightning" turns the assassination of James Garfield into one of the best shows of the year.

This had to be of some inspiration for the ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER score right? It’s what I immediately thought of back at the first trailer.

You know what feels like one battle after another? Trying to figure out if there will be additional Vista Vision screenings after the opening day of ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER.

Ok, I’m no longer gonna thread out the whole diary here because it’s a pain, but you can read it in the playlist if you wish.

Finally saw HIGH AND LOW on the big screen. Pretty much a perfect film. Was fun to watch with a sold out crowd at the New Plaza Cinema where at 49 I may have been the youngest attendee by 2 decades.

Excited to think about someone discovering COCKFIGHTER @metrographnyc.bsky.social this weekend, perhaps turning on to Monte Hellman and Warren Oates for the first time and maybe even going so far as to explore Charles Willeford, author of the source novel and many other fine books.

After an entire summer of drinking pre-ground crap coffee from Costco due to an irrational attempt to be "austere," I am really, really enjoying my first fresh ground micro-roaster home pour over this morning.

Just finished Colson Whitehead’s JOHN HENRY DAYS which I fittingly found in a storage garage my dad bought off the estate of the hoarding ex-doctor who delivered me. The book is not top shelf Whitehead in the writing, but some big, big themes at play about legend that are good to groove with.

Essential follow-up to last night’s screening of WET HOT AMERICAN SUMMER:
The Worst Things The Camp Counselors In Wet Hot American Summer Did Juxtaposed With The Worst Things That Happened To Me At Camp...Ranked - Bright Wall/Dark Room
It's a movie about the thing camp does best: taking American teenagers out of their normal environment and placing them into an environment where they want to kiss all the time.

HUSBANDS. Was 17 in podunk town with no interest in movies. Got a satellite for the first time in 94. Blew my mind that movies could be like that and not just pop culture garbage. Never thought about movies much before then, now it is what I do as an editor and what I think about more than anything.
What movie has had the most impact on your actual literal life? Not necessarily your favorite, but the one that’s most influenced or shaped something in your trajectory?
