At Alison Neighborhood Community Centre our youth get breakfast to help them learn in school, leadership training, summer canps and a sense of belonging. It was an honour to join them at their AGM and learn about the impact that neighbourhood associations have in our community.

Today I had the honour to join the 2024 Voices Empower walk to support the crucial work of Women’s Crisis Services in our communities, and stand in one voice to break the cycle of violence against women.

17 years ago, my mother and I faced homelessness. At a time where we felt hope had been forcibly removed from our lives, the Women’s Crisis Services of Waterloo Region gave us a roof over our heads and the wraparound supports we needed.

An article that reads: OTTAWA -- Prime Minister Justin Trudeau does not appear willing to budge on his plan to send a $250 rebate to "hardworking Canadians," despite pressure from the opposition to give the money to seniors and people who are not able to work.
