Liberal Democrat Member of Parliament for the Horsham Constituency working towards a brighter future. Promoted by the Liberal Democrats, 1 Vincent Square, London SW1 2PN.
It is with great sadness to hear of the passing of Jack Dark, the last WWII RAF Lancaster Pathfinder.

I had the great privilege of meeting Jack and his son Chris in Horsham recently. My deepest condolences to all his family and friends.

We thank you for your service, Jack.

📰 In my West Sussex County Times column last week, I discussed establishing a town council.
Political opinion with MP John Milne: Horsham moves to protect Capitol Theatre and other local amenities
My congratulations to Horsham District Council (HDC) for giving the go-ahead to establish a new town council, after so many decades under the direct control of the district council. The public vote wa...

🗣️ Devolution should strengthen local voices, not take power further away.

Our Capitol Theatre, our parks and many other community assets thrive because local people run them.

Without proper protections and fair funding for town and parish councils, these loved local assets could disappear.

I had a great time at the opening of the new padel courts at Bluecoat Sports Centre at Christ's Hospital!

I got to test them out in a few doubles matches alongside Sophie Bray - Olympic gold medallist and now one of the UK's top 20 women's padel players.

This Budget offered a chance to restore growth and give people hope that things can get better. Instead, this feels more like we’re just treading water.

It’s a Budget that kicks the big issues further on down the road. I'll continue to press for a better approach for Horsham.

🚜 Today’s Budget is the government’s chance to scrap this damaging tax and show they are listening to rural communities.

Our farms are the backbone of local food production and the economy; they deserve our support.
November 26, 2025 at 11:20 AM
🗣️ On Monday, I raised concerns about the government’s approach to the housing crisis.

Greater investment alone won’t give us the affordable homes we need; we must properly reform the system.
November 26, 2025 at 8:30 AM
On the eve of the Budget, I’m urging the Chancellor to set out a plan that genuinely supports families, pensioners and small businesses across Horsham.

The government should start by backing our plans to cut VAT for hospitality, protect jobs and put money back into people’s pockets.

Today is #WhiteRibbonDay, a moment to stand together against all violence towards women and girls.

The Liberal Democrats are campaigning for stronger support services, better training for police and frontline professionals, and dedicated specialist units in every force.

It's UK Parliament Week! 🎉

A fantastic opportunity for people of all ages to learn more about UK politics and how our democracy works.

🤝 Great to meet so many residents at my pop-up surgery at Sainsbury's in Horsham last week!
November 24, 2025 at 11:27 AM
On Monday, I met Brake to discuss #RoadSafetyWeek and Graduated Driving Licences (GDLs).

I'm urging the government to seriously consider GDLs, an issue that Horsham constituent Jane Radford has been a powerful advocate for.

🏠 Developers overwhelmingly target greenfield sites, and without proper powers or support, local authorities don't have the power to turn them down. That has to change.
November 20, 2025 at 5:01 PM
🗣️ Today, on #InternationalMen'sDay, I spoke about the urgent need to address our mental health crisis.

As Chair of the APPG for Rural Business, I hear devastating stories of suicide in our farming community. 95% of young farmers say mental health is the biggest hidden danger in the sector.

Great to join Centre for Care in Parliament to discuss digital exclusion and take part in their giant board game on the barriers facing unpaid carers and older residents.
November 19, 2025 at 8:30 AM
🗣️ Yesterday, I spoke about the urgent need to protect PIP for people with Parkinson's and other fluctuating conditions.

I urge that the forthcoming Timms Review will operate in a genuinely collaborative way to ensure the system better accounts for these conditions.
November 18, 2025 at 4:59 PM
My recent survey found that local farmers don't report over a third of rural crimes because they feel nothing would happen if they did.

Last week, I asked the government to ensure that the police have access to the training and resources they need to tackle this type of crime.

🗣️ Yesterday, I spoke about the government's approach to planning and the chaos it's causing for the Horsham District.

I've asked the Minister to meet with me to ensure his actions won't just sacrifice our environment, but will actually deliver the affordable housing we need.
November 14, 2025 at 8:30 AM
🗣️ Yesterday I spoke in Parliament about the need for credible action to meet the UK’s carbon budget.

With transport now the largest source of emissions, the government can’t keep ignoring the environmental impact of airport expansion like #Gatwick.
November 13, 2025 at 5:00 PM
Fascinating to take part in #EvidenceWeek and discuss how publicly funded research can tackle our major challenges, from improving access to essential services to combating climate change.

It was great to meet with Windracers and SeaCURE to hear how they're innovating in their sectors.
November 13, 2025 at 10:12 AM
🗣️ Today, we're calling for an emergency 5% VAT cut for hospitality businesses, as well as a cut to energy bills, at the upcoming budget.

We want to put money back into people's pockets and help our local businesses to thrive.
