We had the best possible time in the Spanish Pyrenees looking for Graellsia isabelae. After 10 yrs, we now have a bit more of an understanding of how to find this remarkable moth. This yr we saw 2f & 6m, as well as 5sp hawk moth & 6 Saturnia pyri, a wonderful 5 days, couldn't get better than that!

We had a great day on Doi Lang in Northern Thailand, going up to the border with Myanmar. A Vulture flew over most likely Himalayan Griffon and Red-faced Liocichla were delightful, but Mrs Humes Pheasant were the highlight of the day, especially seeing males display.

Lucky you, very envious! I hope you got better views of the Eagle eventually, we found it on the Helston just flying around in the pines, right in front of us. Have a great trip.

Redwing numbers have built up around Underdown, Haldon Forest, Devon recently. Saw this very dark striking individual today, which I assume is 'Icelandic' form, couldn't see its undertail coverts.....then it flew off!

The large leaved plant on the left of my Blue Bird of Paradise painting is thought to be a new species to science, possibly even a new family....no botanists who study New Guinea flora can identify it or put it to a family....that's crazy!!

I've got some Christmas discounts on prints over the next week, Moths & Butterflies, Seabirds & Birds of Paradise. Message me for multiple purchases & I can give further discount.
