a blistering week visiting schools across Northern Ireland- 4 schools and 1500 pupils over three days! Loads of thanks to the librarians, staff and pupils for making every event such a success. Librarians rule - Strangford College, Killicomaine JHS, Our Lady & St Patrick’s, Glenlola Collegiate 🕺📚

Visited the wonderful Killicomaine JHS in Northern Ireland last week who have adopted me as their Patron of Reading 2025/2026 Such a vibrant school. Their passion for the importance of reading is championed by the most amazing partnership of Helen Doogan and Andrea McAllister #patronofreading

He spent the morning engaging with our Key Stage 2 classes, sharing insights and stories that sparked curiosity and creativity. A massive thank you to everyone that voted for Aura Boy in the People's Book Prize 2025, sadly it didn't win, but as it was a global competition, (the winner was an Australian filmmaker/author), I was over the moon to have been shortlisted.
Two shortlist recognitions for Aura Boy have been fabulous.
