My job is to play hillbilly music for folks who don't know they love it yet.
I am teaching songwriting at Sorefingers music camp in the U.K. next Easter. I hope that we get enough folks to join me to make the class feasible. Here is one of my songs as a preview. Come join me... We'll have fun! sorefingers.co.uk

Remembering the "date which will live in infamy," December 7, 1941. My father, and countless others enlisted the next morning. In Dad's case, he was gone from Missouri soon after, and was overseas until the summer of 1945. The photo is of the USS Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor.

Whenever I see a restaurant named for me on the road, I try to stop in. This was a good one, in Tampa, Florida.

On this World AIDS Day, I am thinking with love of friends gone from the garden too soon, and giving thanks for friends who are still here and planting their gardens every day.

Department of Defense Law of War Manual, Sec. 18.3.2.1 states the "requirement" to refuse illegal orders.

What’s its key example? Wait for it . . . It’s "orders to fire upon the shipwrecked."

I was in the quick stop men's room just now, and heard a Dad in one of the stalls sigh and say, "Buddy, we need a plastic bag for your booboo clothes." I went to the clerk, and asked for bags. I got 3, and took them to him. Been there as a Dad. Glad to help make a crappy day a little better for all.

"Mankind was my business. The common welfare was my business. Charity, mercy, forbearance, benevolence, were all my business. The dealings of my trade were but a drop of water in the comprehensive ocean of my business!" ~ Jacob Marley

My favorite meal at Thanksgiving is not the main one... It is the turkey sandwich with mayo, dressing and cranberry sauce for lunch the next day. A helping of Watergate Salad (which contains nothing resembling a salad) on the side. Feel free to adapt for your own use.
