Took several tries. But I extracted the damaged fence post. I had to disconnect the rest of the fence from it, anchor another 4x4 into it, and swing a sledge hammer up until the concrete base came out of the ground.

I see only contradictions. Don't collect information, but verify their age (requires info). Get parental consent (requires info on chikd and adds verifying parentage). Keep adults out (then I can't play online with my nephews since we are different ages).

Maybe you can answer this. I've seen a lot of calls to implement age verification in online spaces made for children. How can that possibly be implemented (in the USA). It looks like an impossible task if any modicum of privacy for children/COPPA is of concern.

I thought this was a great summary of what's happened.

As a child of the 80s, I was bombarded with a lot of PSAs on not trusting or wandering off with strangers. Someone may need to bring those back and add virtual spaces to the PSAs.

There has never been a time when my parents asked, "Is this a scam?" and I said, "No." Sometimes they don't believe me. They then found out it was a scam. I dont understand their incredulity in these moments.

I keep seeing that sites should do age verification to sequester users by age group. But how does one verify someone is a child? There are generally laws against data collection of people suspected to be below 13 yo.

Related, if a site were to require parental consent, how do they verify parentage? Doesn't collecting info about a parent also make vulnerable the child? Ex: One may infer the child's address from the parent's info.

The child told me her YT account got flagged for being likely under 18. The child is 16. I made a sarcastic comment about the older sibling's account not being flagged. That was taken as inspiration for the child to get the older sibling's help bypassing age restrictions.

Lets say someone uses 600 kWh in a month. They could calculate the base amout they pay for electricity by multiplying that by 0.08h USD/kWh. That results in a base fee of 51.60 USD. Note that someone using twice as much pays more than twice as much. They would have to calculate with all 3 rates.

I'm on the residential schedule. The residential schedule R-30 is applicable in 2025. Anyone remember overage charges on cell phones or home Internet? It feels a lot like that.
