Ah. Good point. The region has - and I have some background with this - a lack of beds for long-term care.

I have some initial thoughts about her initiative - including thst name is very similar to the “Safe and Vibrant City” initiative known as Proposition 414 - but I want to hear your thoughts. Please comment below on this thread.

Schubert implores those who might disagree with one of her stated positions to contact her, saying she will (if elected) represent the entire Ward.

“I don’t want to bulldoze your historic home or take away your car,” she tells the crowd.

My apologies to all the minor typos. I am mortified.

For example, Dahl is a lifelong environmentalist.

Please excuse the typos, I will bring a keyboard like I used to.

Props to the Tanque Verde Democrats for today’s format, which just are questions from the audience.

It works really, really well.

Dahl follows up, saying COVID changed consumer and corporate behavior, with people relying on Amazon (rather than a corporate chain) more and more.

He notes the city has some laws to deal with vacant structures.

In a question about half empty strip malls, Schubert talks about zoning reform within the city to better incentivize developers to build what the community needs.

It felt too good for me not to tell someone….

So I posted it here.

Dahl said he plants trees in his backyard, saying he has planted dozens over the years.

(My assumption is grows saplings until they are ready for their forever home. I doubt he has a forest in his backyard.)

I am not sure, I’ll be live posting thru the meeting, but I am listening.

I’ve profile Dahl (and his opponent) and will be featuring Schubert in the next edition of the @tucsonagenda.bsky.social. (Her opponent, Jay Takoff was in Friday’s edition.)

I’ve written about Barajas in the past, but she does not have a GOP opponent or for that matter, any other challenger.

I am at the Tanque Verde Democrats meeting this morning, with Tucson City Council candidates Miranda Schubert and Kevin Dahl are here and Selina Barajas expected to be here shortly.

Sorry! On deadline and haven't had a moment to send a post.

I'll have more on the Council's direction on transit safety improvement in a few minutes.

There are concerns about one of the online polls related to safety on the buses, but city officials are confident of the paper surveys handed out to passengers.

The results are mixed.
