Apparently that title of prince can only be made non active through a very complex act of parliament and the government won’t spend parliamentary time on this while there is more important legislation to pass.

He might be out in the cold but his rank technically remains one of a duke even though he can’t style himself as such now. I want to see legal change to allow the renunciation legally of royal titles and transition to commoner status.

Let’s not get excited. It’s a distinction of style and not substance. All his titles are extant but no longer used. An act of parliament would be needed to remove a dukedom. I would support legislation allowing members of the royal family to renounce legally their royal status.

I though that there was an American principal of government that the state cannot wage war on US citizens. All enforcement of law against its own citizens should be civilian. I guess principals are just words or shredable paper.
