Realized my helix piercing could probably stand to go down to a 5 mm post (piercer I use generally doesn't go shorter than 6 mm on anything), and it's healed enough that I could swap it myself. Even with the slight bit of irritation/swelling from the swap, still have a little room to spare.

Conch piercing mostly calmed down from getting upset a bit ago. Since swapping back to the 8 mm post (from the 6 mm downsize, which we clocked as very snug), I've found some outfits that sell nonstandard post lengths, so I think I'm going to acquire a 7 mm post before I try to downsize again.

One of my writer friends (real life; no online peeps have done this with me) is really annoying to discuss media with. If you're mildly critical of a piece of media they like, they come in hot with the "Well, how would you have done it differently?" I don't know; I'm not a fucking writer.

First vasectomy check still showing the presence of sperm, but at a level so low the lab can't give me a meaningful number. Above detection limit but below the limit of quantification, in laboratory terms. Hopefully sample #2 in a month yields the desired result.

Something pissed off my 4ish month old conch piercing something fierce in the last few hours. To such a degree that I swapped back to the initial longer post and a smaller piece on the end. Gonna have to keep an eye on that.

And just experienced (and acted on) the urge to shave/trim away most of my body hair again. Might be time to circle back to the "Is this coming from a place of dysmorphia or dysphoria?" conversation with my therapist again.

These silly gifs I make during AMV contest judging may end up being the most lasting element of my contest coordinator legacy, and I'm pretty good with that, honestly.

Hoping this is the year I've been dreaming of since becoming contest coordinator (properly in 2023; 2022 only half counts because of the last-minute aspect). The one where I don't have to make any major tweaks to my forms/process. Based on last year's feedback, I think they're in a good place.

Now begins the time of year in which I have to watch AMVs until I get sick of them for the sake of judging the contests. I know I should spend more time in the AMV rooms of other conventions to learn about what they're doing, but the fatigue after watching all the AWA entries is powerful.

Cartilage piercings are not for the weak-willed. For all the trouble with my recent conch piercing, my helix from a year ago still gets REALLY pissed off sometimes. I recently changed out the decorative bit, kept any fiddling with the post to a minimum, and it has been angry for a solid day now.

Never would have thought I'd be someone picking tattoos from flash sheets, but I've done it twice now (and I'll do it again). Like my many tumblers, I am but a humble vessel for caffeinated beverages that needs to be covered in stickers.

Went my preferred tattoo shop's spooky flash sale and ended up with the same artist who did my Kirby sticker tattoo. Was nice having an excuse to give him more money before I figure out my next big tattoo idea. Also, dude did an insane color job for a $100 flash tattoo.

I'm a large, masculine person with an angry-ish neutral face that tends to clam up around new people, so probably like an 8 or so. I've been told the perceived intimidation level drops drastically and quickly once i start to open up though.

I appreciate artists wanting to signal boost their friends, but that really doesn't require re-blogging so many things in a short amount of time that you drown out everything else in the feeds of people following you.

The only downside to the many backups I maintain of contest AMVs is that I have to make sure I replace any submitted updates in every single location. Which isn't the reason we're so stingy about allowing updates, but it sure makes me not want to be too permissive about it.

Finally watching the stuff with Na-Go's dad in Kamen Rider Geats, and it is at least a better paternal redemption arc than Endeavor's.

Finally found a couple of shops on Etsy with chains long enough to string over the bridge of my nose between my nose studs. I've always liked the look, but many places have 40mm as the longest available size. Need 45-50 mm (depending on angle) for my face.

Shopwide flash sale this Friday, and one of the artists is having a personal flash sale for the rest of the month. Waiting to see the preview for the shopwide sale, but I don't think I'm making it out of October without another tattoo.

Industrial piercing done. The two large gauge holes in quick succession did not make for a good time, but the conch still hurt more. Industrial is easily second place for pain though.

I'm honestly kind of glad Dad isn't around for the current political environment. He was basically a Rockafeller/liberal Republican (from back when such a thing existed), and he hated Trump, but he was starting to buy into some of the less overtly egregious right wing talking points.

New piercing hardware ordered. Actually kind of low-key dread getting the Industrial. Two simultaneous holes in cartilage using the thickest gauge out of anything so far sounds like a really bad time. Previous worst was the conch (thinner gauge, but through harder, thicker cartilage).

Second skin finally came off the new tattoo; artist had recommended leaving it on a week, which I've never heard before (usually been told 3-5 days). There's a fair bit of build-up of excess ink that needs to flake away, but it looks good otherwise.
