November 2 – 8 is #TreatiesRecognitionWeek in Ontario.

Want to learn more about the treaties where you live or visit?

Websites such as Whose.Land and Native-Land.ca are excellent resources for learning about local treaties and for helping you craft an authentic land acknowledgment or welcome.

Good Friday morning! Your assignment this weekend! Put some care in the world!

Give someone you love a book you love. Tell an author why they're important to you. Send a thank you note to a librarian. Add a banned book to a little free library w a note about why it matters. Add care.

Decided to make a book protector from an external hard drive box, an old paint by number, and some leftover fabric. Didn’t turn out too badly - except the octopus ended up upside down, so now it’s the back cover instead of the front 😂.

Everyone can contribute something to the fight, but because certain actions tend to get all the coverage, it can be easy to feel shut out. So here's a thread of ways to help that do NOT include:
Going anywhere
Calling anyone
Writing anything

Exposure to a variety of stories and perspectives is essential for developing empathy and self-identity. Book bans only cause harm and perpetuate the damaging idea that some stories should stay hidden.

AI should be leveraged as a tool for good - not for spreading hate, causing harm, or stealing from people who have worked hard at their crafts. More discussion and regulations are needed now.

Today show some support to an author who is important to you. Send a message on social media or the contact form on their website. Bonus points if their books are being banned. Bonus bonus points if they're from a community that is being targeted. Cannot overstate how meaningful these notes can be.

🚨 What are Bills 5 & C-5? And why are Indigenous communities speaking out?

Bill 5 (ON) & Bill C-5 (Federal) are fast-tracking development while bypassing Indigenous consent and environmental protections – with less oversight comes more risk to ecosystems, wildlife, and culture.
