is shaking in the cold.
Flies buzzing,

From the Darkness

I had fled the noise and laughter for the quiet where flowers and weeds held their lonely vigil.

Beneath the great oak's funeral shade, a Black-eyed Susan stood, strong stemmed, her petals ghostly faded, her crown a wound of dark moss.

From the shadows, a moth rose like death and descended upon her.

It uncoiled its needle of hunger and drove it into Susie's black moist heart.

When the wind mourned through, she shuddered, collapsing deeper into the oak's embrace as the moth supped the last of her amber wine.
