one of my dream markets rejected my short story - but it made it to the final round and the rejection letter said it was well received by the editors. So there's that. 🥲

Well, the Senate dismissed and went home. Shutdown is happening. And now, pretty much every GS federal employee has no idea when we'll see another paycheck. Congress will be out for a couple of days for Yom Kippur after tomorrow morning, so we're not looking at just a day or two.

Just in case people don't know, Republicans have the numbers across the government to prevent a shutdown. They have the numbers in the Senate to change the rules so they don't need any Democratic votes to prevent a shutdown. If a shutdown happens, they're the ones that could have prevented it.

. I just want to do my job, get paid for it, and have my pay match inflation rates. Will I have time to write if there's a shutdown? Yes. Will I be able to pay my bills? No.

🤬Looks like we're headed for another government shutdown where Congress will get paid, but I won't. Government shutdowns don't help anyone and I'm really tired of the number of times in the 16 years I've been a public servant that we've gone through this.

Looks like I'm not going to be allowed to work after tomorrow - Again. Congress will get paid during a government shutdown, but federal employees like me have to wait until it's over and then get blamed for all the delays and problems that result from a shutdown. 😡
