This morning I was home alone with the dogs. Came into the living room to discover that someone (not me) had turned on the TV and started an episode of Archer.

In other news, the puppy has decided that the TV remote looks like a chew toy.

Doing my annual required HR training today. Always annoying but I get why we do most of it.

But I cannot figure out why everyone on campus needs to do a 40min training on how Cleary Act statistics are compiled

Like that’s a huge amount of time to dedicate to something that’s like 10 peoples’ job

CFP: "Belief: Still Today's Issue"
International Institute for Method in Theology
Spring Colloquium (Philosophy Area)
March 6-7, 2026 @ Marquette University
Call for Papers (abbreviated for Alt Text)
“Belief: Still Today’s Issue”
Hosted by the International Institute for Method in Theology
March 6–7, 2026, Marquette University
DESCRIPTION
This colloquium invites renewed reflection on belief and believing, not only in religion, but in every area touched by a community’s common fund of judgment and evaluation—technology, economy, politics, science, and scholarship included. Sponsored by the Philosophy working group of the International Institute for Method in Theology, this conversation will be grounded in Bernard Lonergan’s dream of a collaborative and interdisciplinary research method to unite theology,
philosophy, the natural and human sciences, and all other fields of human inquiry.
In the collaborative and dialogical spirit of both Lonergan’s work, we invite submissions reflecting on a broad range of topics connected with belief and believing.
Proposals (approximately 300 words) should be sent to jonathan.heaps@shu.edu by December 1, 2025.
Notification of acceptance will be sent by December 15, 2025.
NB: While would prefer in-person presentations, please indicate if you would prefer or require the
capacity to present remotely instead. All proposals will be considered regardless of preference.
PUBLICATION OPPORTUNITY
In conjunction with Marquette University Press, we plan to publish selected papers from this conference in an edited volume to be released in 2028. If selected, authors would have ample time to revise, expand, and edit their manuscripts after the conference.
For any additional questions or information, please contact Jonathan Heaps at jonathan.heaps@shu.edu

We already have a model for this with religious. Catholics are supposedly good at institutions- I think we could build it.

New foster!

Meet Crumbs. She’s sweet and very smart. And deaf and a little stubborn, so training is gonna be important.
jkrinder.bsky.social
Though honestly the Jesuit leadership is more ecclesiologically likely. One could write the superior general and the provincial, I suppose.
jkrinder.bsky.social
I just love it when Catholic schools use their religious status as legal reason to deny Catholic teaching.
jkrinder.bsky.social
Now I’m seeing this everywhere.

When Möhler says “this it is true that the Christian must not wish to perfect XPy, but to perfect themself through XPy”

Notice how different reads is if Christianity is primarily held “already-out-there-now-real” vs a divine gift “semper purificanda”
jkrinder.bsky.social
Also- super traditional- the church triumphant is the churchiest church, always in theory, even if the emphasis on the social aspects of the church militant tended to overshadow in practices bc laws and lawyers are less squishy😊
jkrinder.bsky.social
You’re the one who pointed out that weird LG moment to me first
jkrinder.bsky.social
Which- Leaves hard practice questions. Clearly if the Eucharistic bread is poisoned it doesn’t poison Christ. But please don’t eat it.

We have more trouble thinking about that w the church somehow
jkrinder.bsky.social
But it is so so hard to hold onto true sacramental thinking. How quick we are to slide into “just a symbol” or “physical presence” vis-a-vis the Eucharist. Like- everyone is always tottering one way or the other.
So you should love the Eucharist & Church. But either can be poison in any specific
