Buried in Michigan's antiporn bill is a provision to effectively outlaw "circumvention tools," such as VPNs.

Mark my words: legislators will increasingly leverage porn panic to restrict or ban VPNs, and to limit internet privacy far beyond adult sites.
Experts raise privacy concerns over Michigan bill targeting pornography and VPNs
Rep. Josh Schriver, the bill’s sponsor, says the law is designed to target only producers and distributors of pornography, not everyday internet users.

OpenAI's Sora gambit is somehow even more reckless and arrogant than we've grown accustomed to with the company. OpenAI is betting that it can spit in the face of creatives, workers, and the largest media companies on the planet—and bend copyright law to its whims.

With Sora 2, OpenAI is betting it can spit in the face of workers, creators, and the biggest media conglomerates on the planet — and win

Vapourware, like what's the point of the device when the phone fills that niche. There's a reason MP3 players aren't popular anymore....
Well this is absolutely grimm. Upside is Unis are bureaucratically anal about processes so they will be pushing on making sure the data is treated properly.
The situation with Blackboard - now its owner is bankrupt and it's coming under new private equity ownership and control - is serious enough the UK agency for HE tech is advising all affected universities to seek assurances regarding data security inspiringlearning.jiscinvolve.org/wp/2025/10/s...

UK Government announcement of additional Online Safety Act regulations, not yet published www.gov.uk/government/n...

Note the direction of travel: OSA requirements that currently oblige platforms to proactively "protect" children from content will be extended to protect adults.
The government has today (8 September) announced urgent action to toughen the Online Safety Act by putting stricter legal requirements on tech companies to hunt down and remove material that encourages or assists serious self-harm, before it can destroy lives and tear families apart.

While platforms already have to take specific steps to protect children from this dangerous self-harm content, the government recognises that adults battling mental health challenges are equally at risk from exposure to material that could trigger a mental health crisis or worse.

Coped a GTX 1060 for £60 and.....
Nvidia is a bit mid on Linux, if you play older games. Like one of the 32bit packages needed depends on something that it shouldn't really depend on. More the other way round 🥴
So I had to hack the deb file and remove the dependency and install the deb file.

Little gentleman in a box :3
A black and white tuxedo cat with bright yellow eyes, wearing a red bow tie, sitting snugly inside a small cardboard box. The cat’s face is peeking out, giving a gentlemanly and composed look.

This is just stupid. The online safety act isn't designed to protect children let's be honest

If they want to do something about the online safety act It needs to be done in a British court.
Don't need a law degree or lawsuit to see Ofcom can't enforce the online safety act on non Brits.

The Covenant believe that what they call "The Silent Cartographer," is somewhere under this island. The Cartographer is a map room that will lead us to Halo's control center. The island has multiple structures and installations. One of them contains the map room.

To explain:
1. OpenAI has to convert to a for profit by end of year or SoftBank cuts their funding in half, effectively reducing their next check size from $20bn+ to $700m
2. Microsoft/oAI's negotiations are holding it up, oAI wants a bunch of concessions, MSFT doesn't care, owns their IP anyway
Oh what's that? The thing I've been warning people about for months? That OpenAI and Microsoft are nowhere on negotiations? That thing? WHAT'S THAT????
OpenAI’s corporate restructuring is likely to slip into next year, as the ChatGPT maker negotiates over key terms of its future relationship with Microsoft, complicating plans to raise billions of dollars more in funding.
The $300bn artificial intelligence start-up has been locked in complex discussions with the software giant, its biggest backer, to rewrite an existing commercial contract between the companies that runs until 2030.
A deal would allow OpenAI to complete plans for a restructure which would allow investors to hold equity in the business and unlock a future initial public offering. But multiple people with knowledge of the talks said there is still distance between the two sides on key issues that could push negotiations beyond December 31.

Failure to reach an agreement by that date would allow SoftBank to withhold its $10bn commitment to the company, according to the terms of the Japanese group’s investment. It could also hamper OpenAI’s efforts to raise more capital.
