I had to do a bit of a catchup on #inktober yesterday &, to be honest, I was feeling a bit sick of it. Burn out is setting in. So I did one picture in the hatching style I’ve been developing, then another much simpler with a thicker pen. The third was somewhere between the two.

After a bit of searching for rock stars with ripped jeans and so on, I decided it could be the art style itself that was ragged! It’s half way through the month & I am feeling a bit ragged myself, so, I just put pen to paper and started scribbling. It may be a bit tenuous but who cares.

#inktober day 15, “ragged”. Sometimes, I get to the reference photo that I chose before the month started, & I just don’t want to draw it. For example, for “ragged” I’d found a homeless person playing guitar, but I found it a bit depressing, & I didn’t want to do a figure, I wanted to do a face. 1/?

#inktober day 14, “trunk”. I’m much happier with this one. Back to my usual pen and I did the grey first to avoid smudging. I didn’t really have to do much crosshatching. I just had to follow the elephants’ wrinkles!

#inktober day 12, “shredded”. This is the first time I’ve not used a reference photo from Pinterest. The idea came from there but the examples were too complex or too ugly. So I made my own collage. It’s still a bit freaky, but there you go.

It’s a double whammy of #inktober pictures from me today as I try to catch up a bit.

Day 9, “Heavy”. I went for heavy metal & thus James Hetfield from Metallica. The reference photo cut him off at the ankles so I had to find a photo with him in a similar stance & transplant his feet from there!

Inktober day 7, “Starfish”. Sorry to this random lady off Pinterest. I did a bad flat layer of hatching, added a worse scrappy layer & finally a third layer that might have salvaged it.

I like the water and sky effects though.
