“keep our focus on the needs of our students, staff, and families” #LeadLAP
A3 We need to keep an open mind. We need to stay positive with each other. We need to listen to understand. We need to keep our focus on the needs of our students, staff, and families and support them in any way we can. #LeadLAP

A3) we need to keep doing what is right, what is human, and we need do it with love and even joy whenever we can. And we can’t ever forget that the students we are lucky enough to see every day will be leading us. #leadlap

A2 One of the hardest parts is the political divide it creates w/ Fs. We are clear about our commitment to inclusive communities, & some Fs will bring that into the convo when they are feeling upset about something else. It becomes ammunition that distracts from the real work we are doing . #LeadLAP

A1 I feel very lucky to work in a district that stands by its core values & keeps us informed on the most recent news that may potentially impact our schools & families. District team communicates out what we believe as a school system which helps me to be able to focus on the work. #LeadLAP

A4 Looking forward to our February break this week. I have LOTS of formatives to write so I’ll spend some time catching up & doing that AND also take a few days with family to unplug in ski country! #LeadLAP

A3 My biggest “problem” right now is ensuring my time in classrooms. There have been so many “fires” to put out my AP & I have not been able to get in to see learning & give feedback. Trying to have my staff, who are tired, feel supported AND develop their ability to respond to Ss’ needs. #LeadLAP

I had to have a hard conversation with a teacher this week about some concerns. Try my best to let them know we will work on it together and support but also need to be clear. Finding that balance of care and clarity can be hard. #LeadLAP

Something good from this week was our early childhood expo where prospective PreK and K parents get to hear a little bit about each school-love getting to share about our community & grateful for my team who came to tell what is special about our school.

A2 I want to figure out PD structures that will allow us all to be on the same page AND give everyone the professional learning they need AND give them choice. #WorkInProgress #LeadLAP

When I first started, staff said did they didn’t feel like they connected to/owned our core values…so we made new ones! Had it fit to our theme (PAWS for Huskies!) -this drives our SEL/PBIS work and our norms & helps to shape our identity as a school. #LeadLAP

Thank you so much @bethhouf.bsky.social @burgessdave.bsky.social & the #LeadLAP crew for helping remind me that I need to get back to reading #edubooks. Articles are great but a book immerses you in a topic & reignites the fire of my why (which I could definitely use right now!).

A3 I would love to see a book that really helps Ts connect the work of academics AND behavior. We don’t “fix” behavior and then dig into academics- both of these things need to happen simultaneously and we ALL need to part of the work. #LeadLAP.

A1 Used to be so much better always reading an #edubook but have fallen behind. I used to be part of a Twitter chat book club which kept me committed to reading.
I have so many I want to dig into-I think the one I want to read next is _What Makes a Great Principal_by George Courus & Allyson Apsey.

A3 What are ways you empower you ILT to take ownership and step up to lead change? We talk about and design the work together but they seem hesitant to step up and be the voice for our school with their colleagues. I know I need to a better job of fostering this-any tips? #LeadLAP

A2 Grateful to be in year 2. Teams are starting to work together better and will hopefully give us the chance to take our work to the next level.
Have been able to get into classrooms more and have even had a chance to do some modeling work n classrooms with a new ELA routine we are using. #LeadLAP

A1 SO much keeps me up at night (hence the melatonin!). Our school has so many areas for growth to best support the growth of our students & the sense of urgency is REAL, but durable change takes time and staff already feel overwhelmed w/ how much we’re trying to do. #LeadLAP
