When your review includes words to the effect of “games have changes/evolved so much since X,” I read it as “I have a preference for this style, but I’m pretending game design is a linear concept and not a sea filled with islands of design.”

Something I've noticed recently is how much players/GMs prefer to have hard rules rather than ambiguity for most things. Then, they want to break those hard rules.
During my reflection I've found I prefer hard rules for the Core aspects of a system and guidelines for the rest.

I’ve been deep diving lost media … which makes me think of how many TTRPGs are no longer readily available. Almost every licensed game ever made has an expiration date on it, after which it can no longer be made or sold. Depressing as heck.
