Estonia has closed the Saatse border crossing with Russia due to an unusually large Russian military presence on the other side. The Estonian Police and Border Guard (PPA) noted increased patrols and military movements that were much higher than normal, which were deemed beyond routine activities.

Estonia has closed off a road/border passing through Russia after larger than usual groups of troops have been spotted.

Comment: I am hard pressed to find any insignia on those filmed and SE news claims "little green men".

Yesterday I was told that the class I’m scheduled to teach this month, Confronting Oppression & Injustice, is no longer part of our curriculum. This is a required class yet there was no discussion, no faculty vote, just an email saying the class no longer exists. This is what it’s like in Texas now.

You tell them, Parkin. All the furniture in the house belongs to the cats. Just look at how much space on a bed Bruce can take up when he really tries.

We are looking forward to welcoming visitors to @aberuni.bsky.social during tomorrow's Open Day! The Department has a programme of talks about studying politics and international relations in Aberystwyth, along with plenty of opportunities to chat with staff and our lovely student ambassadors.

Reinforces the trend we have been seeing in the US throughout Trump 2.0: national level institutions are struggling to meet the challenges that this administration poses to the law and the constitution, but local level officials, institutions and communities are standing up.

I remain puzzled as to why some continue to trot out that academia is not the "real world". I have endless responsibilities, deadlines, expectations, and work long hours. This is my "real world" & I hope that my efforts over a long career contribute to improving the "real world" of others. 🧪

Agreed - also, I have noticed cultural differences. Academics from UK universities seem to be more comfortable presenting freely while academics at US universities seem more tied to their texts...or perhaps I am generalising from too small a sample!
