The California ACLU is staunchly opposed to the ignition interlock device program and is a big reason that it has not been expanded. Despite the fact that California heavily subsidizes the cost for low-income drunk drivers, the ACLU says that the program is a form of "racialized wealth extraction."

It's clear from the article that ICE is *miserable* here. They're freezing their asses off and being harassed everywhere they go. Property managers aren't allowing them access to rental properties and people know their rights and aren't letting them in.

I had a long debate with a Trump voter where I basically backed them into agreeing with this completely, and socratically walked them through the answer being to tax them, and they immediately went to "but that's socialism!"

Strangely some of the Trump voters I talk with don't seem to think he's rich. They think he's "one of them" and they're mostly blue collar folks. When I point out he's a New York maybe-Billionaire with a gold toilet they go "Oh, well, yeah I guess, but still..."
