Big congratulations to Barnaby who after 8 years in education and practice has just passed his Part 3 and qualified as an Architect! 🥂 😆

Thanks to Tahima for being a great mentor during his Part 3 and we hope he'll enjoyed some celebrating this weekend!
Throwback to one of our smaller projects, a bright and welcoming new single-storey extension in Oxford ✨

This spacious open-plan kitchen and dining area brings in plenty of natural light with neutral tones and finishes that connect beautifully with the outdoors.

The client’s treated us to nibbles and wine whilst we looked at the house. The small former coach house was extended and transformed over. The project took over 10 years to materialise and many of the J&C team members worked on it, including most project architects earlier in their career.
A trip down memory lane with a side of nibbles! Last week the team visited an old project, and we were blown away by the unique details developed over time.
Thanks to Beard for organising the event, especially Luke Bennett. It was great to see so many other people there as well. Hope everyone’s legs aren’t too achy today!

Harry, Rob & Barnaby started the day off strong powering through to lunch then passed the batten to Aline, Martin, Tahima, Amanda & Danni to bring it home! This year, we managed not to come last and ended at a respectable 24th!. We better get training to get 23rd place next year!
Yesterday, we enjoyed taking part in Beard’s 2025 Cyclathon yesterday in aid of The Oxford University Sport and Community Partnership;
On Friday, Tahima Dawn, Amanda Selormey and Rob Goacher attended the Silver Star Maternity fund charity dinner at Blenheim Palace, thanks to DBR Limited . It was a great evening with good food, wine, and company. Thanks to Kay R. and the DBR team for the invite.
We had a busy week last week!

On Thursday, Martin Shaw went to the B4’ Raise'25 Showcase Dinner at The Macdonald Randolph Hotel, for a great meal and evening.
As well as their specialised services, during its sunnier seasons, visitors are also encouraged to explore all parts of the vineyard, walled gardens and enjoy a local glass of wine (furry friends welcome).

Keep an eye open for any upcoming events on their website and get involved!

In developing the brief it was clear that upgrading existing commodities would help with overall experience & day-to-day running. Replacing the existing garden office, polytunnel & barn was a necessity as these spaces act centrally for the staff & individuals who are working towards recovery.

We're excited to announce that our scheme for Bridewell Gardens (beautifully illustrated by Tahima) was recently granted planning permission!
Each guest inspires her to help others understand who they are through their own unique journeys. Outside of that, she gets involved in causes she cares about—like the CEO Sleepout for homelessness—and occasionally help out with events at her church.
She also co-hosts the 1:100 Architecture Podcast where we share relatable stories from across the architecture profession—guests have included Professor Lesley Lokko and Francis Kéré, whose Gando Primary School project first inspired her to pursue architecture.
Amanda discovered the thing that was missing in her career was designing for communities which is why she was interested in working with Jessop & Cook - designing spaces that have lasting impact.
Outside of work, she enjoys pleasure in simple things like listening to music or watching a film.
After graduating, She took part in Design and Build project, Ranwas Primary School in Vanuatu which helped her to understand how impactful design can shape cohesive and progressive communities.
She’s also helping to strategise the social media and branding within the practice.
Her experience so far has been rooted in the residential sector, particularly around Passivhaus and sustainable design.
Welcome Amanda! Amanda has joined us as an architectural designer, starting recently!

She joined us about 4 years into her career & has started working on some very cool local community and mixed-use projects in Oxford. Learning about a variety of projects that we do and people that we work with.
It’s been a pleasure working on this beautiful little project and we can’t wait to see it finished with decorations and styling!

The clients worked very closely with us and Taurus during the design and construction of the oak frame and hand selected all the finishes, including repurposing a kitchen unit as a new island with new larger worktop surface and bespoke bookcase made to fit extra-large cookery books!
