Fairly certain my kids are not going to get much if any history education in MO public schools. So, I've started coffee book chat with my junior high schooler.

We just started A Young People's History of the U.S. Just a few copies of Zinn in a sea of Bibles at that coffeeshop this weekend.

I have a bottle of whisky set aside for that event. I've been eyeing it eagerly these days.

The Missouri my kids are growing up in is vastly different from the one I grew up in. History education? Non-existent so far and my kid is in 7th grade.
Remedy: I'm taking him to the coffeeshop every weekend where we can read/discuss A Young People's History (Zinn).

I spent a decade on the West Coast.
I have my Masters in History and I'm not afraid to use it.
I'm an American.

My son was given a hermit crab by someone whose kid no longer wanted theirs. My kid became a mini expert on hermies and he's had his for about 7 years. We even moved it across country with us. We would never buy one from a pet store now, but I'm proud of how he's cared for this pet over the years.
