And those meanings change. Always have. ‘Awful’ now means the exact opposite of what it meant a couple of hundred years ago; “full of awe (positive, compliment)”.

Any linguist or etymologist will tell us that what matters is common usage & understanding. 😁

If it’s Trump, he’s a civilian & shouldn’t be performing salutes at all (command makes no difference).

An enlisted should salute any officer including those from allied but foreign forces, & the officer should return the salute. Not returning a salute is VERY poor form (unless you’re a civvie).

So if want to speed up (which I think would be beneficial) try to not break into a run.

Also varying what you do can be really beneficial. I.e. shorter, faster walk one day and a longer, slower walk another day. That way, your body won’t optimise for one type & you can push the plateau further out.

My little brother studied exercise physiology & we’ve had some really interesting conversations along these lines… here’s what I recall: running is more energy efficient than walking. So for the same speed, a walking action will work the body harder than a jogging action. 🧵
