Death rates year-to-date continue to track the best year on record (2019) very closely.

Ordinarily we expect death rates to fall over any 5-year period, so this isn’t as good news as it sounds. But it’s a big improvement on 2020-23.

Next update 8 January.

Healthcare agencies, hospitals, care homes, and schools [in fact, anywhere where large numbers of people mix together in poorly ventilated spaces], should be prepared for rising cases of influenza, RSV and COVID-19.
