Happy New Year! I think I'll start posting here this year. Will post about shows and films I've watched and maybe books I've read. I watch mostly kdramas but I do watch varied types/ genres, including animes, other Asian dramas, and the typical Hollywood fare/ UK/ Canadian shows.
Happy Thanksgiving! Every day, I am grateful that I moved to Canada.
Film#85. Brian’s Song (1971)

This TV movie just made me cry.James Caan and Billy Dee Williams turn in great performances, and it looks like some of the non-speaking cast was played by Piccolo’s and Sayers’ actual Chicago Bears’ teammates as it aired only a year after Piccolo’s death.7.5/10 #Filmsky
TV#106. #LittleHouseOnThePrairie S4 (1977)

So many big changes happen this season, not only to the Ingalls but to a lot of characters in Walnut Grove. I did feel that the last few episodes were a bit rushed, as the show strives to catch up to the books before Mary’s big life change. 8/10 #TVSky
I'm enjoying #TyphoonFamily so far. Love the music too - is this what 1990s K-Pop sounded like?
Book#46. The Revelation by Bentley Little (1990) | Narrated by David Stifel

Tried this because I’ve seen King’s post about the author; this is his first novel. Very suspenseful, and Stifel reading is how I imagine Brother Elias talks. I wish we had a woman as one of the heroes though. #Booksky
TV#105. #Sherlock S2 (2012)

Liked this just a teensy bit over S1 because of the Irene Adler episode; the chemistry between Irene and Sherlock is electric. However, I kinda ship Sherlock with Molly Hooper, though I wish he didn't treat her so appallingly. 9.5/10 #TVSky
Film#84. #Damsel (2024)

I liked this story; it has a great cast, high production values, and lots of action. I wish we had more character beats of Elodie though, and the relationship with her stepmother could have gone deeper. I also wanted a bit more in the end. 7/10 #Filmsky
TV#104. #DeptQ S1 (2025)

Can be dark and gritty, but has a vein of hopefulness from many of our characters that makes you root for them. To be clear, DCI Morck doesn’t start out that way, but his very competent crew toil ever onward. Love where this S1 ends. Can’t wait for S2. 9/10 #TVSky
Book#45. Secret Places by Heather Peck (2021)

The first in the DCI Greg Geldard series, this story was less of a mystery and more of meeting nice characters who had bad things happen to them. We had competent detectives and good neighbours all around! #Booksky
TV#103. #Tempest (2025)

There were certain scenes in the last episode where I felt that a sense of urgency would have been more appropriate between our main couple, but otherwise, I really liked the pacing and storytelling of this #kdrama. Loved all the twists. 8.5/10 #TVSky
Book#44. The House on the Water by Margo Hunt (2020) | Read by Taylor Schilling

The audiobook I want is on hold with a 10-week wait at the library, so I listened to this whodunit on Audible in the meantime. Nice & short novella. Strongly drawn characters. #Booksky
TV#102. Theatre of Darkness: Yamishibai S15 (2025)

This season’s set of shorts isn't as creepy as the previous set, but I liked a couple of episodes: Ep 6 Butterfly, and Ep 13 Memories. 6.5/10 #Anime #TVSky
Film#83. #TheLostBus (2025)

Very well-crafted film; this makes wildfires terrifyingly real, which is the power of this medium. As this was based on a true story, I wonder how I would have fared in the same situation as Mary and Kevin. Great cast. 8/10 #Filmsky
TV#101. #Lazarus (2025)

I loved this #anime: the story, the jazzy & bluesy soundtrack, and the animation. And most of all, I love our found family. I hope we get a second season! 9/10 #TVSky
Film#82. #TheSevenDeadlySins Grudge of Edinburgh Part 2 (2023)

The fight scenes for the two boys were very well done; I really like their characters. I should have expected that cameo at the end. Looks like we know who the main villain will be in the next arc. 7/10 #Anime #TVSky
TV#100. #Uzumaki (2024)

I have the hardcover deluxe edition of the manga so I knew what to expect in this #anime adaptation. The story is like a fevered dream and is very surreal. I’m glad this series is in black and white. I don’t think it will be as eerie if it was coloured. 6.5/10 #TVSky
Film#81. #TheSevenDeadlySins Grudge of Edinburgh Part 1 (2022)

I don’t like it when films are split in two, and this one was. Anyway, good story, foreshadowed in the TV series. The animation also seemed more fluid in this one (compared to earlier films/shows). I like it! 7/10 #Anime #Filmsky
TV#99. #CreatureCommandos S1 (2024)

This animated series pulls no punches, and we’re hit with betrayal and heartbreak while delivering action and dark comedy. I hope Weasel stays around for a long time. I loved all the backstories. 8.5/10 #TVSky
Film#80. #TheSevenDeadlySins Cursed by Light (2021)

This movie should have been an arc in the last season of the TV series as it looks like it happened before we learned the truth about Merlin. Oh well, this was still okay as Zeldris and Gelda had a bigger part. 6.5/10 #Anime #FilmSky
TV#98. #BonAppetitYourMajesty (2025)

This #kdrama features time travel, culinary wars, and palace intrigue, with an abundance of romance, comedy, and suspense. I loved our team of cooks as well as the food scenes best, especially when put in an emotional context. Great cast. 9/10 #TVSky
Film#79. #AlienoidReturnToTheFuture (2024)

My main enjoyment is for the action sequences and funny moments, but the overall narrative is a bit confusing though not too hard to follow. PSA: in Canada, this is for rent on Viki, but is available for free on Plex and Tubi. 7.5/10 #Filmsky #KFilm
TV#97. #Unmasked (2025)

Smart, suspenseful, and darkly humorous drama focused on a group of investigative journalists led by Kim Hye Soo’s character Oh Soryong. The cases of the week are based on real cases, which boggles the mind as some of them are outrageously evil crimes. 8/10 #Kdrama #TVSky
Yaargh, you're right, it was quite a ride! Geez. 😱
I've started the episode. I'm about 6 minutes in. Will report back in an hour or so.
