It is indeed almost like that.

And “spied”? They didn’t wiretap him or listen to calls. In 2023 they subpoenaed lists of his calls for Jan. 4-7, 2021. A narrow request, as it should be. Again, it would be shocking if they hadn’t fully documented the evidence of those calls.

The Senator doth protest too much, methinks.
jeffyarbro.bsky.social
How can Sen. Hagerty act so shocked? The January Report disclosed retrieving toll records for calls from WH to a handful of senators on night of J6. And it was public that he was in that handful. It’d be crazy for a prosecutor not to have those records when the calls were a big part of indictment.

wild @MarshaBlackburn & Hagerty are making a big deal of this. calls from WH/Giuliani to Senators after 1/6 to halt certification is described in the Trump indictment

By all means let’s see every doc/grand jury testimony mentioning them to confirm if phone records were relevant!

We’re missing basic civics here. It’s Congress—not the President—that has the constitutional power to call out the Guard. Congress’s laws let presidents deploy under narrow, specific circumstances. For nearly 250 years, courts have enforced those limits to prevent abuse of power.
Walsh tweet calling for open defiance of judges and deployment of Guard.

The voucher program takes sales tax money paid by everyone all over the state and redistributes it to wealthier families who were already in private schools in a handful of suburbs & cities.
Map showing voucher enrollment concentrated in Shelby, Hamilton, Knox, Davidson, and to lesser extent Madison & suburbs outside Nashville.
jeffyarbro.bsky.social
“Evenly divided” here means half of the private school vouchers go to families making less than the ~$170,000 limit, which is 95% of Tennessee families and half go to families making even more, which is the wealthiest 5% of Tennesseans.
Gov Lee statement, including point that half go to families meeting income limits and half to families not within limit

DOJ: CA NG is already federalized

Judge: You are an officer of the court. Do you think this is an appropriate way to deal with my order? Appropriate way of dealing with ruling you disagree with?

DOJ: Well, I'm not a policy maker

Judge: You're a lawyer

If any other president said something like this in a speech to a military academy, it would be a massive scandal. Instead, it isn’t among the ten most dangerous things he’s done this week.

Good God, this is dangerous. And just an outright rejection of basic principles of constitutional government in the United States.

In light of Judge Immergut's ruling, there's a lot of noise today coming from the President's advisers and supporters about courts not having the power to provide prospective relief against domestic uses of the military.

Via "One First," me on the rather significant early precedent to the contrary:
181. Courts and Domestic Use of the Military
In response to adverse judicial rulings, the President's advisers and supporters are claiming courts lack the power to halt domestic use of the military. A critical early precedent is to the contrary.

Got so tired of complaining about voter fraud without proof that he just went out and did voter fraud. Now that’s commitment to a cause.

George Washington won the Revolution, presided at Constitutional Convention, and was our first President. When Senate proposed his face for US coins, he rejected it as anti-republican and signed a law barring any actual person’s image on coins, which held until Lincoln was put on the penny in 1909.

The story of 2024 is this: Trump had a plan to destroy American government called Project 2025, which had, literally, not a typo, a 4% approval rating. He lied constantly and said he wouldn't do it.

Then he entered office and immediately implemented AN EVEN MORE EXTREME VERSION OF IT.
jeffyarbro.bsky.social
During 2024 campaign, Trump lied and disowned Project 2025. CNN and others in media actually fact-checked Democrats for deceiving & misleading voters by linking it to Trump.

But it’s been the operational blueprint for his presidency from the jump.

Using drones, helicopters & flashbang grenades to storm an entire residential apartment building in the middle of the night and then hauling off zip tied children in rented vans.

The country’s entering a moral black hole here.
